Laptop not charging?

My laptop doesn't want to run on AC power anymore. If I plug the power cord into my laptop sometimes it will show that it is charging or running on ac power, but then with the slightest movement or even nothing, it will switch to battery power and even if I unplug the power cord and plug it back in it won't work.

I have the on/off light and charging light on the front of my laptop. Normally when it is charging or on ac power, both lights will be on, and if it is just running on the battery just the power light is on, but when the power cord is plugged in and it isn't working, both lights flash.

I've tried taking out the battery, and it would still misfunction, right now I have a different power cord plugged in, but this one does it too, just not as often.

Thanks for any help.

Update:

The battery will charge. It started out at full power, then dropped down to around 78% and for the few minutes that it was working properly, it charged back up to 84%

I think you should purchase a new battery. I f that does not workthenhave a service company check it. Could be an electical circuit issue. http://www.desktopsupport.tv/

This is due to the jack or the wire that comes out from the charger block...in both case the wires are shorting and so ur light starts to blink...if u cant fix it urr self giv the charger for service to an electronic shop...they can easily fix it...hope its not the jack cause u will need a new jack then which off course might be difficult to find.

The port to where the plug goes in is loose. this use to happen to me. but instead of your falling out like mine did it just becomes undone. You need a new motherbord because that is what the power hold is connected to. i had to get a new one twice.

I have a dell so i have a warranty and it is covered on my warranty. so if you have one then i would call it in immediatly. if not until you get a new mother bord i would find the spot that charges your battery dont move it and charge er up to use it. i used to find a way to rig it until they could come out to fix it but that to would only last for so long.

Charger or the connector to the laptop could be bad. check the battery level. Battery maybe faulty and not able to take charge.
