  • Are there any problems from bypassing the heater core?

My mom had a guy bypass the heater core in my car and he cut the hose that went from the engine to the heater core and placed it where the hose from the heater core went into the engine. Is there going to be any problems now that the path the water/antifreeze travels is shorter?

  • How to clean a "katrina" CD?

I had a CD in my playstation 2 when my house flooded for hurricane katrina and I want to clean it. Should I use just plain running water and a little soap?

Also, I have an organic chem. lab this semester, so I've gotten used to cleaning things with acetone. Would that work on a CD or would it dissolve/react with whatever coatings are applied to it?

  • What would cause the console in my truck to not work properly?

For about three years, I've noticed that randomly, the battery gauge would be closer to the 8 than to the 18. When this happens my other gauges would not work correctly, though my head lights would work and when I turn the knob to turn my console lights off, my speedometer would start working, though the others wouldn't. Lately I've noticed this to be happening more frequently, I think it's tied to the cooler temperature, because I've never noticed this problem during the warmer months.

  • Laptop not charging?

My laptop doesn't want to run on AC power anymore. If I plug the power cord into my laptop sometimes it will show that it is charging or running on ac power, but then with the slightest movement or even nothing, it will switch to battery power and even if I unplug the power cord and plug it back in it won't work.

I have the on/off light and charging light on the front of my laptop. Normally when it is charging or on ac power, both lights will be on, and if it is just running on the battery just the power light is on, but when the power cord is plugged in and it isn't working, both lights flash.

I've tried taking out the battery, and it would still misfunction, right now I have a different power cord plugged in, but this one does it too, just not as often.

    Thanks for any help.

  • Computer problem?

Yesterday I tried doing a system restore on my computer but it froze, so I shut it down by holding the power button. Then I tried to do another system restore, but this one too froze on me. So I shut it down the same way.

Now when I try to start my computer it brings me to a screen that asks me to start my computer up normally or to start up using the last good settings. Either way I try to start my computer it brings me to a blue screen saying that my computer has been shut down to prevent damage. I've gotten the blue screen many times in the past, but that was always related to my graphics.

I was thinking that the only way for me to fix it would be to just buy a new Hard-drive, but I don't know if that would even work or if my computer is just screwed. I would like to know if I can fix it, even though this gives me the perfect excuse to go buy the wireless router and new monitor i've been desiring.

Thanks for any help and insight.

  • Finding the maximum distance?

I had a physics question that asked me to find the maxium X value, where X is in meters.

I was first asked to find meters traveled, then velocity, then acceleration for the function X= 16t^2 - 6.0t^3 after 3 seconds. I found those, by plugging in 3 for t and then taking the first and second derivatives. Which wasn't a problem, but then using the same function I needed to find Xmax and Vmax.

I found that Xmax was something after 1.75 seconds, which my online homework said I got right, but in order to find it, I was just plugging in numbers, but I don't know how to actually find it, and my textbook is silent on the matter.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • What do you guys think about the poem I had to write for my education class?

I am M. Calhoun future Science teacher

Teaching thinking to the tethered targets

Of the state’s sundry suffering, to open the markets

Of the mental faculties of the student’s minds

Despite their hatred for being in the binds

    Of despairing society.

I am seeking to find a way

To end their torture from day to day

Of the confines of the ignorant bliss

That is so permissive in this worldly mist

Of media Science that has left the mark

Of truthful meaning that was never wrought.

I will show the students that truth exists

In many forms and to question the mixt.

I am M. Calhoun future Science teacher.

  • My network adapter on my laptop constantly loses connection...?

This has just started within the last month and a half, I thought it was just the wireless they had at PJ's coffee, but then I brought it to my friend's house and it did it from his router too. I have also been getting hardware errors from it. I have run a diagnostic thingy on it, system restores, new drivers, and I think that's it. Does anyone know what could be wrong? Oh, sometimes it will stay up for an hour or more, other times it will lose connection 5 times in as many minutes.

  • The Ka for HCN is 6.2 x10^-10. What is the pH of a 1.00 M solution of LiCN?

I was thinking that HCN is a weak acid and LiCN is a weak base so the Kb of the CN- in LiCN would be the same as the Ka of HCN. But that seems wrong.
