Computer problem?
Yesterday I tried doing a system restore on my computer but it froze, so I shut it down by holding the power button. Then I tried to do another system restore, but this one too froze on me. So I shut it down the same way.
Now when I try to start my computer it brings me to a screen that asks me to start my computer up normally or to start up using the last good settings. Either way I try to start my computer it brings me to a blue screen saying that my computer has been shut down to prevent damage. I've gotten the blue screen many times in the past, but that was always related to my graphics.
I was thinking that the only way for me to fix it would be to just buy a new Hard-drive, but I don't know if that would even work or if my computer is just screwed. I would like to know if I can fix it, even though this gives me the perfect excuse to go buy the wireless router and new monitor i've been desiring.
Thanks for any help and insight.

First off save your money, you don't need to buy a new hard drive. Second, doing an abrupt shut-off on your computer is bad for it, doing it while system restoring is just plain stupid. You caused a massive error by shutting down the computer while it was writing all the old settings into your computer. The result was incompatible settings between the old and new ones. All you need to do is format your hard drive and reinstall your OS. If you're lucky, you could try repairing it by going into the repair tools and typing "fixboot" and then trying to restart your computer again.
If at all possible, don't shut down your computer by holding down the power button. Your computer and OS will thank you for it.

If you haven't got anything important on the machine it may be easier to do the fresh install especially if your having that many issues, i wouldn't even bother trying to fix it.
Just use your XP installation CD and do a fresh install.
Just go into the CMOS and change the boot sequence to boot from CD, then just follow the install. Choose to format the drive also in regular format not the quick format.
