Violation notices?
Anyone here have any idea how many violations it takes to get suspended? I have been targeting my questions at a specific group and evidently they don't like it. Gotten several violations this week. Just wondering if I should be worried?
And to make this a religion question. What are the ethics of reporting a legal question? Wouldn't that be bearing false witness and lying?
Darrol P - I do protest them but I rarely get a response to my e-mails.
LineDancer - While you may disagree with me and my questions even you must admit they are not illegal. I do not violate the rules like your brethren do when they report me.

Get a back up account. You are about to be terminated...
I have had 4 accounts suspended for asking questions of the same group...
We just double our q/a.
I think Line Dancer's answer qualifies as a rant and is in violation of Y/A rules...lol

Reporting an answer or question that does not violate the community rules is un-ethical even if you disagree. I have had some answers and questions removed. At first it was due to my lack of knowledge of the rules. I have since tailored my Q & A to fit within the guidelines but I still get violations. I believe that those making the determination sometimes do so with an agenda.

last week for asking for prayers--it was a question. I blocked the only person who said that they thought it was a violation and had other users assure me that it was not. I read over the part about solicitation which was clearly framed to rule out people who are selling something and appealed and was denied. I pointed out that i had not profit motive. Just FYI I would never have reported anyone for asking a question about Darwinism or athieism, or any other group. I have given best answer to a wiccan on one of my questions and a Muslim, becuase they clearly had the best answer. I support the right of anyone here to ask a respectful question from thier point of view. I am saddened to read what others here have been reported for it seems mean spirited. I thought with the new warnings about reporting too much or frivolously people could get in trouble and it would stop some of this. But apparently not.

I don't know how many violation notices it takes to get your account deleted. But I was informed by a Yahoo staff member that it takes more than one person reporting the same question or answer to justify an account suspension.
I was having some Protestant Christian haters follow me around for a while, so I had to make my Q & A private to all except my contacts. Then the violation notices stopped.
If you find that you are being persued, you might have to do this for a while to put a stop to it.
Blessings
Kait.

If you do not think the violation notices are valid, protest them.
Edit: I got one totally frivolous violation notice. I sent about 6 protests, repeated the same question that generated the violation notice on 2 separate forums on Y/A. And was prepared to send a protest email every day. Of course you have to have a good case as well.

I have wondered the same thing, and dread every Violation Notice that drops in my email. Why? Usually because, even though I protest EVERY SINGLE ONE of them, only ONCE has it ever been overturned. Frankly, I think the guidelines are weakened by the tremendous amount of SUBJECTIVITY that they allow for.... "rudeness"... "hurtful words" .... "insults"... etc. Frankly, I think the reason WHY Y-A replies to our PROTESTS with their "form email" is because they've created an unweildy monster of a reporting system, with TOO much subjectivity creating WAY TOO MANY reports of violations. They can't HANDLE the load THEY have "created."
I have never reported a LEGAL question (or answer). Frankly, unless the violation is one of those "blatant" violations (vulgarity, porn, etc.) it is rare that I report. In fact, many times, I will answer the person's question with a WARNING about their question being in violation, and to be aware that some bottom-feeder may report them.
I have no problem with a "rant" or even some "chat" now and then... who does it HURT?
Have a blessed day.

i think they change their tactics all the time. in general, i noticed the higher the level i was, the more violations i got before suspended (and not in the obvious, you've been around longer sense). for example, every time i get a violation with a level 1 account it was automatically deleted. on level two accounts, i could get about 4 or 5. level three was something around 12 or so. level four was about 20. that's the highest i've been.
i don't know if it's true, but that's my impression. also, if you say something really bad, you may get suspended right away.

Hi,
It varies. I was 200 points shy of level six and got my answers access suspended on my fourth violation. Others say 10 or 20 but over all the number does not seem to be set in stone.
I appealed but never got the account reactivated in answers aeven after 3 months.
Cheers,
Michael Kelly

Sorry, I'm not too sure. I would like to watch the answers and find out myself. Because I recently received a couple of bogus violation notices as well. One of them was in your Jews and the law question. . . I don't even bother contesting them anymore, it's a big waste of time.

You don't need any violations to be suspended. I have had several accounts suspended without receiving any violation notices.
