Financial Privacy and Law?

I just recieved a student loan statement where the amount I owe and the fact that I own it is in the clear window with my name and address. Is this legal?

Update:

I owe it. Sorry. You can clearly read my name, address, the trustee, the amount I owe, and "recieved, I promise to pay the order of the payer's address printed above, the principle sum of........."

Update 2:

No damages execpt for feeling a little embarassed. My mailman, neighbors, and family saw it.

    This is really interesting. I know that it is illegal to communicate debt to a third party (under the fair debt practices act). Did you suffer damages?
