Who said Darren McCarty would never be signed by the Wings?

I said he would not crack the starting line-up that he would not play for the Wings! He still hasnt. Their is still no guarantee he ever will. Holland has told him he will still be playing in Grand Rapids. DO I think he might get a few games in mid-March> He may. He has been assigned to Grand Rapids for a 2-week conditioning stint. After that, he has to stay up on the Wings or clear waivers and go back down to Grand Rapids. I still believe it depends on the health of the Wings and the quality of their play. If he does play for the Wings, one of these players will not dress- Downey, Kopecky or Drake. One of those players automatically becomes a healthy scratch when Cleary returns, anyway. So, as you see, he still has a mountain to climb and Babcock and Holland said if he did play he would have to earn it.

I'm a big fan of McCarty but I wasn't sure that he would have been back for this year. I figured he would have signed but I wasn't sure if he would have made the team this year. And frankly, the people here that said that he wouldn't either don't realize what McCarty brings, got the run around on information, or was just saying what Holland thought at the time.

I did about a week ago but I really thought it wouldn't happen. So, 2 weeks and I get to see him play. I read he is going back to play some more with Grand Rapids then gets a try-out with the Wings.

Alot of people said it, he still needs to bust his butt to get in better shape, but he has shown the dedication they hoped he would. Nobody can say if he will contribute anything, but he is a player with playoff and chapionship expieriance, that cost them no players to get. I remember Joey kocur coming back from the beer leagues to play in 97 and 98, who thought that would turn out as good as it did?? Hopefully things work out for him, he is a good guy, that has made some mistakes, but he still has alot of fans in Detroit.

Darren is back and he will play after a two-week conditioning period in Grand Rapids.

i'll admit that i was one of the many people to say he wouldn't make it. i love mccarty but honestly, i did not see that coming. my bad....hahaha

I know he has been through alot so i for one would like to see him get back on track......and i ain't even a wings fan

Someone who is not too bright I'm guessing!! I went and saw him with the Griffins and he looks good!!!

Me. It'll still be a miracle if he plays, but I'd love to see it.
