Help my Digital Camera! It keeps turning off!?

I dont know whats wrong with my Polaroid 8mgp digital camera. I would put in brand new batteries and every time i click on the flash button it goes off. Sometimes it works just fine but everytime i need it the most it does that. What wrong with it..i dont think its damaged..it was working perfectly fine when i bought it then i stopped using it for about 5 months..and it started doing this.. do they go bad or something? and i have had it for about a year now and only used like 5 times at the most. PlZ help!

Update:

Could it be the memory card? i have the same one since i bought it but i dont believe its full..i mean i delete pictures all the time..its holds about 500 and i have about 450 in there

it might be the card. One thing you shouldn't do is delete tons of pictures individually. You should format the card to delete them all. You could corrupt the card by deleting pics often as you might have done. Also, never use the card in those store kiosks since they could also corrupt your card.

if you can, try a different card, preferably a new one, and see if you dont' have the same problem.

Polaroid is not the best quality camera. Make sure the battery contacts are clean, if that fails buy a good camera.

Could be a bad or corroded connection with the battery. Try cleaning contacts with a q-tip dipped in alcohol.

see if you can find the reset button. it's a small recessed button pencil point size. press on it for about a couple of seconds or until you get some response. hope it works.

You have to use mercury-free batteries.
