How long do you have to live in a state to be a "resident"?

Right now I live in Houston, TX and I attend Sam Houston State University. I want to go to University of Oklahoma for law school. I have an Aunt, as well as my grandmother, living in Oklahoma. How long would I technically have to live there to be a resident.

Most schools require you to live in state with a job and utilities/rent in your name for a year WITHOUT attending school before they'll give you instate tuition. Even then you have to fight them for it.

you will probably have to be a legal resident for somewhere between 6 months to 2 years in order to receive in-state tuition from the school, if that's what you're looking for. but usually what schools look for is that you've spent a majority of your life in-state, so you may encounter some problems. just make sure you register as a legal resident of oklahoma as soon as possible.
