Degree In Special Education?

I am looking into online schooling for a masters in special education and have called a few schools and they offer bachelors of education and then you work your way through degrees till you finally get to take your masters for special ed. I was told that there are some schools who will specialize in just that degree, so I dont have to take the long route? I live in Arizona (USA) and was wondering if anyone knew of any schools that offered this online? Thank you in advance for any help...

If you live in Arizona, I would look into Grand Canyon University. They have an entry-level master's program, which is entirely on-line. It would require a semester student teaching, but AZ, especially northern AZ and anywhere around the reservations, is so desperate for anything related to special ed, that you might be able to work for a district on an emergency license after a few semesters and get paid for student teaching. Northern Arizona University also has a program that is about 1/2 on-line, but I am not sure if you are in the southern part of the state.

University of Phoenix also offers an entry-level master's but I would consider this as a last resort. They are way overpriced for the quality (or lack thereof) of education delivered.

If you are in the southern part of AZ, your guess is as good as mine. I am clueless about anything around phoenix.

Be extra aware with the Financial Department if you are choosing AMU. Keep checking with them often or they will not do anything for you. You will not learn as much from online classes, they are a lot more boring than the traditional ones, plus you have a lot more homework. The positive thing about online programs is the flexible schedule. With AMU, you can transfer credits, but I am not sure how your employer would view that. I am on my first classes now and not really enjoying them so much, but well, since I am so busy with work and other things in my life, this would fit me better. Good luck with your study!
