How do I re-format a picture from the Internet?

I have a mac and I want to use a picture from google in a movie that I am making. It says that it is the wrong format.

Update:

It needs to be in a jpeg. I was trying to put it in iphoto. What is a picture editor?

Update 2:

If I put the image in word how do I make it a jpeg?

What format does it need to be? .jpg is pretty universal, if you have a image editing software, it should be easy. Open it up in that program and save the pic in .jpg format.

Open it in your image editing softwware, i;m unsure on Mac Software, Adobe Photoshop's the only one i can think of for Mac.

Then File >> Save As, or FIle >> Export As .. to whatever format the video editor is compatible with.
