I got an email from Mr. Robert Wallace from Apex City London Hotel for RECEPTIONIST position. Is it a scam??
At first, he asked me to send a latest copy of my CV so I did. Then, after 4 days he sent me interview questionnaires. I answered all those questions last feb. 23, 2008 and got a response last feb. 25 asking if i am willing to take responsibility of the applicable fees and assessment test which I need to pass first (U.K embassy here in Manila).
When I checked the said hotel's website, the information is just the same, the email address used is not free like that of yahoo, MSN, etc. --- Please, I'm also interested but I need help from you guys. If you know somebody working for that hotel, please ask if there's an employee named ROBERT WALLACE, a PERSONNEL AND TRAINING ASSISTANT. Thank you very much in advance.

I would say it is a scam too. But let us know the website and the last bit f his email address so we can have a look and check.
here is the hotel website and there is a recruitment page there, but no receptionist poisition. Ths is perhaps not surpising as they are maybe filled quite easily.
Yoiu also did not say why you got the email. Was it spam or did you appl for a vacancy and then he responded?
Good luck, but anyone asking for money to help you apply for a job is probably scamming you.

If it has the following text in it it is a fraud,
However, there are certain applicable fees that we charge for these
services. We charge £62 for each work permit issued for a particular
duration of validity or work permit extension/reapplication for a work
permit in the event of change of job.The Home Office charges an
additional fee of £90 for the work permit.
We accept payments from overseas through money transfer.(UK) current
processing times for this service are 1-2 weeks.Processing of the
application will not take place until payment has cleared. You are
required to present us with the following before we can proceed with the
process of your work permit:" This guy is not only trying to get your cash, but if you replied to his request for personal information, then he knows a LOT about you. Watch your credit report carefully, notify your bank to do signature comparisons on all checks, Or change account numbers if feasible.
It is unfortunate that crooks are able to glean so much data from the public.

I live outside the US. There was an article in the paper here about those scams, and how sadly a number of fools were duped... some companies here roasted as a result also.
