Can I sue my school?

I am in my senior year at a private college and am paying a lot of money to do so. I just found out that they are canceling my visual arts program. My degree probably won't carry much weight since the school dropped the program. Do I have a leg to stand on in court?

Nobody will know or care that the school dropped the Visual Arts program. As long as you got your degree, you haven't been denied anything and the school will confirm that you earned it there. They aren't going to mention that the program was ended - lots of people have degrees that aren't offered anymore.

Unless the school promised you that they wouldn't cancel that program you don't have any grounds for a suit. If you were denied your degree because your program no longer existed you might have grounds or had to take additional classes you might have some grounds, but it's up to a school which programs they do and don't offer.

No you can not sue your school. You can however request a partial or full refund, stating the reason you paid for this peticular school was the visual arts program. Then you can switch to a school where you can presue the classes of your choice.

    good luck

It'll carry weight even if they drop the program.

No. What "loss" have you suffered? You'll have your degree. Your perception that the degree is somehow "devalued" doesn't hold water.
