Would you give up your church?

I don't mean give up your religion or your God. I'm asking if you'd be willing to let go of your church, that's all. You could still gather with like minded people, just not in a building specifically build for the purpose. Stop going to middle men and have your relationship with your God personally. Give your money to charities that help all mankind, instead just people of one faith. Let the preists and preachers get regular jobs that don't set themselves above others in matters of theology. If no man has the right to tell you God's will and no piece of land is holy, then maybe we can stop people from killing in God's name. Would that not in itself be a rightous act?

We could use the churches and temples as museums and libraries. Preserve them the way we do historical sites.

Well, what do you think?

Well, the problem with this is that the organization of the local church is outlined in the Bible. The offices in the local church, and the qualifications for those offices is in the Bible. The method for adding and removing people from membership is also given. The mission for the church is also given.

So, your idea sounds good in human terms, but those aren't the terms that God has given us in His Word.

    Acts 2:41, 1 Tim. 3, 1 Pet. 2:9, Acts 1:23-26, 2 Cor. 8:19, Titus 1:5-9, Titus 2, Acts 2:40-47, Eph. 4:11-16, 1 Cor. 14:40, Matt 18:15-17, 1 COr. 5:1-6, 1 Cor 14:40- Just a few examples.

I'm in a church that hasn't had a building for quite some time. I think that there are definite advantages to having a meeting place. I would absolutely give up a building, but my church - no way!
