Which type/colour make up would suit me the best?

I'm pretty new to this whole make up thing. I've never really made an effort as such before but now I want to start experimenting with makeup but I have no idea where to start.

I want to try out some foundation but I don't know which type is best for my skin. I have combination, sensitive skin which is pale-ish (for lack of a better word) and I have pock marks that run from approximately the beginning of my nose to almost near my cheek bones. They are a result of having chicken pox when I was 4 years old.

Does anyone have any tips on which foundation would be best?

Here is a photo so that you can see what my skin is like:

Also, could someone recommend what eyeshadow and lip colour would sit me best with my skin tones?

The beauty supplies stores where I live don't do free makeovers or anything. :(

Thanks very much.

xx

Update:

You should truthfully go to a makeup store and have a professional pick the best foundation, eyeshadow, etc. This is because you can put a picture on the internet but it is a two-dimensional photo and a professional will be able to match your skin and see it for what it is in person.

If you have a really uneven skintone, which I can't tell from your pic I am only saying this cuz of your comment about marks, you should really think about a good skincare routine. There are quite a few lines which can help with reducing the appearance of scaring.

Then for foundation you might want to avoid "mineral" make-up because it might settle into lines, which may or may not exist from the marks you mentioned. Something lightweight and long wearing would be good such as Double Wear light from Estee Lauder.

As for colors try things out to see what YOU like I am very fair with dark hair and I like pink and peach shades for a natural look or blue and purple shades for the evening.

I am not sure where you live, but the idea that you are somewhere they do not offer free make-overs is very unusual. Don't be afraid to ask at a few different places if the first person says their is a charge, and don't be afraid to try something new if you don't like it it's just make-up it comes off:)

Some bronzer and blush are a must. You look to me like you have pretty clear skin. You need to dress up those perty eyes! Some yeliner and mascara are things you should have. Light gold, brown, and white eyeshadows would work best with you, I think. For blush, a light pink/peachy blush would work with your fair skin. Some advice I have for you is don't buy drugtore brand cheap makeup. If you're going to get makeup, get some good makeup. MAC is a great brand.

i would suggest a creamy/airy foundation like that 'Dream Mate' Mousse'. It smooths, covers and gives a really good even finish. Its also good to put on your lips aswell for that paler look which i think looks nice with a bit of lip gloss on top.

Also you should buy a high pigment black eye shadow which works really well for outlining the eye like liquid eyeliner.

I find it last longer and gives a really nice smokey look without making the eye look to harsh. (i use a cotton bud/q-tip to do that)

When you've finished, a brush of powder on the skin will ensure your make-up will last throughout the day.

in my opinion you should start with one of the new mineral makeups out. Lorel has a good one and so does avon that way you can experiment with your coverage a bit. As for eyes and lips try some neutral colors firts to get an idea what works for you and you have less chance of messing it up.

i definatly think you should use mineral makeup they help your skin and make ppl look amazing. Bare minerals, sheer cover they r good brands. But mabeline is a good brand. they just came out with a line of mineral makeup. I say you are going to want to get makeup that i fair-ivory. your skin looks really light. then i say use a light pink gloss or clear gloss for eyeshadow i say light browns and maybe light pinks or just shimmer eyeshadow would look nice.
