How long do leftovers typically keep in the fridge?

Specifically things like chicken, rice, vegetables, etc. I usually use a 4-day rule, but I don't know the answer.

    i usually keep mine for no more than a week.

    I would go with 4 days. But, I have kept things longer. I eat them and am ok. But, My Husband has a sesative tummy, And it wld hurt him in the long run. I grew up poor, and Nothing was ever wasted. So I have a hard time throwing things out.

    I would go with the three day rule...after that it starts changing flavor and smell.
