Is God just a man made adult fairy tale?

Of course it's a fairy tale. One to make you fearful of consequences if you don't act as others want you to. There is NO god period. There never was, and there never will be. If you take some time to do some critical thinking you will reach the same conclusion.

Folks are told from the time they are kids into adulthood that there is this mysterious magical being that sees everything, knows everything, does absolutely NO wrong, and controls the universe and more. That's very powerful stuff. When one hears that over the course of a lifetime without asking serious questions just as you have they are inclined to believe it as fact. In fact it's the only thing they'll believe without actual proof. Seems silly really.

If you approach the subject objectively, that is throw away the years of people telling you god is watching, god will punish, god this and god that etc. If you set all that aside and ask yourself, where is the proof? Many will say the bible. The bible is a fairytale myth written then copied from several early civilizations. Do some checking into the Egyptian gods and so on and you will find the story is just a legend passed on through the ages.

There will always be freaks who strongly (to the point of fanaticism) believe god is real and all the rest of it. But if you want to live your life without all the guilt and shame and B.S. that goes with all that god stuff, just ask the critical questions and don't settle for someone's ideas as proof.

Religion has been the root cause of almost all wars; it has been the root of much suffering and pain. If people could just agree that we are all just sharing a little precious time on this planet together. Things could be a lot better.

The human need for believe is strong, but for those with access to knowledge, belief in deities is simply the make-belief of the child carried over into adulthood. A child doesn’t really differentiate between make-belief and reality. We think we are all grown up, we think we are mature, in fact though we never transcend childhood. It’s the same mechanism which furnishes our absorption in stories or TV or films, the same reason that soap stars who play bad characters get accosted in the street. We remain creatures of make-belief, of fairy tales.

I have read the Bible, the Koran, the Egyptian Book of the Dead, the Bhagwat Gita and Harry Potter. They are all the same. With condescension the transcendent minds pity ‘the believer’ who lives and dies without ever knowing. A waste of a life. Rather I would live for a second in truth than live a thousand years in make-belief.

Half the world's population believes in One God. The rest believe in either no God or a multitude of gods.

But all the belief systems share most of the same concepts of right and wrong.

You are probably right that they are fairytales. But they serve/d the purpose of binding communities together in harmony. Naturally antisocial activities like thievery, murder, thuggery, adultery etc. create conflict in communities. Inviolate religious laws backed by a belief in a God or gods should moderate this type of behaviour.

Its not always the case. Religions can easily go off the rails -- like the endless human sacrifice of the Aztecs, or the spawning of bloody Holy Wars.

Yes its fake. it was taught to you when you were a little kid. its even on your money. What happened to zues and thor and other greek gods before the Christian god came into popularity? IT was taught to make you feel bad if you go against it. Why would you praise a god that will torture your family members that don't praise your god but does good to the world? its evil if you think about it. THink of god as the evil king of a city

The Bible, like many other scriptures, was written by ancient priests who all had their own personal agendas and biases. Even if they were inspired the information they received had to pass through their personalities/minds before it was written down. The only thing of any value in the Bible to me is the teachings of Jesus. Love god. Love your neighbor as yourself.

Truth is an answer no living human will ever find behind the question of god. as a child I was taught and forced to believe god was real. disobedience or question led to punishment. so growing up i felt rebellion for their force, and then I felt my self turning to god because i had no where else to turn. i gave my faith and waited... judged...and condemned others.... sad, sad, sad.. :(. now that I have studied, and I mean studied deep into science I have learned that the christian god can not possible be real. if any god at all existst it would be the emmence and vast energy of the entire universe, which is to vast for the average human mind to conceive, which is why most turn to a 'god' they can explain. "christian god". But the christian god is evil,Deuteronomy "21/18/21 talks about a child who rebels shall be stoned to death!! this is one of many verses about killing children who question. but it is in our nature to question. so.. if the christian god is real he is not good. is killing every child who questions you a death sentence???? no!!!. the bible is bogus. only to make simple minded people fear that of which the one in power wants them to. If god is real god is the energy of the universe. that which promotes all life in all forms. the whole universe is so massive it could act as one big brain. although unable to inflict any physical damage it has the ability to affect us mentally.. but would never give us murderous thoughts of natural children. therefore if the christian god is real.. he is not of pure good but of dictatorship in his own ways. and the god"energy" of the universe is greater then he. the real god.. one that does not preach or give us false hopes or beliefs. but one of creation, and of silence. if there is a god, than the universe itself is the true god of all life. as for the christian god.... well follow if you want and believe in the evil of "hypocrisy,murder, judgement,and false hopes," science can now back up everything that is and is not. the christian god was created out of humans natural need to be ruled, and natural fear of the unknown. needing something to offer hope of life after death, a greater way. but once we all realize we make our own way, and purpose. we are all better off
