Guardianship over my mentally handicapped son?
How do i go about getting legal guardianship over my mentally handicapped son who will soon be turning 18! I don't have a lot of money, i am supporting him, my 19 yr old daughter and my 2 yr old grandbaby all by myself! I live in missouri! What is the best and cheapest way to go about this?
No one has guardianship over him right now! But when he turns 18 he will have the right to do whatever he wants and i won't be able to do anything about it! He doesn't have the mental capasity to make logical decisions! He also has a long history of wandering off for hours at a time! He is very neive to the dangers of the world!

you would have to speak with an attorney... even if the person currently the legal guardian of your handicapped son was WILLING to give up rights and hand them over to you, the court will have you go through the ringer in order to get those rights transferred over.

you would have to talk to an attorney. Of course the lawyer would need to establish that your son is mentally incompetent.
