The original teams in the National Association, which was founded in 1871 and is the forerunner of the National League, were:

When the National League was formed in 1876, only Chicago, Boston (now called the Braves), Philadelphia, and New York survived from the original N.A. teams. They were joined by:

- Cincinnati Red Stockings

Of all those teams, only Chicago (now called the Cubs) and Boston (now the Atlanta Braves) are still officially in existence, though the Reds claim direct descent from the Red Stockings.

What we know as the MLB today was Called the National League and started in 1876. The four teams that have been in the league since then were the NY Giants, Phillies, Boston Braves, and Chicago Cubs. The cincinatti red stockings (now known as the reds) joined the league later on.

Currently the CIncinatti Reds are the oldest team. It would have been my Cubbies but we changed our name to the Cubs in 1904 (We were the White Stockings) but the Reds have been the Reds since 1890 (Thats 118 years!)

I belive the Cinncinati Red Sockings were the very first team. Or maby th Boston Browns....?

The current ones from pre-1900s (and with different names) were Cincy, Cubs, cleveland, and NY. Thats all I got.
