Can you explain/show how to solve these?

a + b + c a + 3y - m m + n - p

a - b + c 2a - 3y + m n - m + p

(x+5)^2 (3x+4)^2

2x + 4 divided by 2x^2 - 2x - 12

3x-1 divided by 3x^2 + 14x - 5

no it's not my homework, I just can't remember how to solve these.

The first one doesn't make sense.

    (x+5)^2 = (x+5)(x+5) = x^2 +10x +25

    (3x+4)^2 = (3x+4)(3x+4) = 9x^2 +24x +16

    (2x+4) / (2x^2-2x-12)

    = 2(x+2) / [2(x^2-x-6)]

    = 2(x+2) / [2(x+2)(x-3)]

    = 1/(x-3)

    (3x-1)/(3x^2+14x-5)

    = (3x-1) / [(3x-1)(x+5)]

    = 1/(x+5)
