I'm really getting frustrated?

This unemployment thing is starting to get annoying. I've been searching for a job aggressively since August - nothing. I've been on 3 interviews since then and nothing else. I can't find a job anywhere. Most of the companies won't even send an email or give a call regarding whether or not they received my application. Or when I call to follow up, "no one is available to speak with me". I'm really fed up with it.

What the hell do I have to do to find a job? I feel like I've tried everything, I don't know what else to do anymore. My parents don't get it - they think someone will just hand me a job. They can't comprehend the fact that, unlike when they started, the job market sucks right now. I can't stand being around them anymore because they treat me like I'm not even trying. I'm really about to just go off on someone.

Please tell me there are other people who are going through the same thing? And any ideas when this economy will stop being so screwed up?

Update:

I hear ya Marmib! At least I know I'm not the only one! I just wish I could get my parents to understand how hard it is right now.

I have been connected with a temp agency for the past month, but so far no luck. It seems like they always put me up for jobs that I'm not even qualified for, so of course I get the whole "not enough experience" speech.

I'm probably the least picky person too. All I ask is that I make enough money to take on all my bills, have a little to spend for myself, and some to save so that I can move out. And a little bit of a flexible schedule where if I feel like going in at 8am, I can leave at 4. Is that really too much to ask?

GIIIRRRLLLL i hear you loud and clear on that one! I have no idea when or if this economy will start to look up (perhaps election 08 might have something to do with it....) but i can totally understand how frustrating your situation is. I went to school forever! or it seemed like forever. anyway, when i got out of grad school i thought i'd find a job in a minute. YEAH RIGHT. and i was applying to everything and anything. the most frustrating part is the whole 'you have to apply online' thing. it's annoying becuase there is no human contact, and i really doubt if anyone actually reads those things!! and there is rarely a contact number. anyway....i am employed right now at a university, but only on contract for one year. i'm not looking forward to getting back into the search atmosphere..... and you're right. older people have no grasp of how difficult it is because they just went to school for something (or not) and when they wanted a job and were willing to work they got one....

    grrrr...thanks for the vent.

best of luck to you though, SOMETHING's gotta give at some point!!

Are you just applying for companies that advertise or did you get out the yellow pages, call companies in your area and ask if you can fax over your resume and to who's attention. Follow up in 4 days with the person you faxed it to. The economy is bad and it does take a longer time to find work. Also apply for civil service jobs. They take a while to process through, but you have been looking for a long time, you have nothing to lose.

if you would have mentioned your place i would be much comfortable to answer. anyways lets give it a go.

search for jobs online u will get if not in your country then abroad if u want to find a job in your place ask recruiting agencies the best way and if your profile is that weak that no one is offering you a job then go for job without pay in first 1 or 2 months i also did this. coz i dint have any other way to push myself up. not a big deal many ppl do it. for exp. register on each and every site and pay them if u can they will get u a best job may Allah bless u take care. may you find a very good job soon. bye

Consider on getting on to a temp. agency which they are constantly sending people out to different jobs even if it's for several days at least you would be bringing in a little bit of money. Their jobs out their who prefer to hire employees through temp. agency's instead of dealing with people right off the streets.
