Credit Card Debt?
I used my mother's credit card, and got behind on the payments. Is there any way to make the debt just mine, and not ruin her credit?

Credit card debt is not assumable. Meaning, you are not able to make the credit card yours and remove your mother. She is liable for the entire balance that is charged on the card and liable for the delinquent payments on that card.
If you are seeking to remedy the problem you must apply for a credit card or personal loan in your name. The decision as to what amount will be approved for you will be based on the following:
1. Income
2. Length of employment
3. Current Credit History
4. Networth
My recommendation, if your mother was kind enough to trust you with her credit card, please treat it with better care.
good luck

I recommend that you enroll in a debt management program. This is a program established by your creditors called the Creditor Repayment Program. What most people do not know, is that your creditors are waiting to help! They have already agreed to participate....but they will never offer these repayment terms to you directly. When you consolidate, you combine all of your monthly payments of your unsecured debt into one low fixed monthly payment by reducing or even eliminating your current interest rates. Several creditors recommend credit counseling. It does NOT hurt your credit, like debt settlement does.

You can try to get a credit card, or a small loan from a bank - and either transfer the debt, or just pay her back.
The interest rates on credit cards are usually ridiculous unless you qualify for a low one (most people don't).
Your best bet is to avoid them altogether. I chopped all of mine up years ago - and it's the best thing I've ever done.
The only thing I finance now is my house/cars/motorcycle - all of which have very reasonable interest rates.

No, but here is a way around that. You could open up a credit card in your name. Use it to pay off your mother's credit card thereby saving her credit.

Nope. If it's under her name, it's her problem that you created. I understand family kindness to help each other, but there also has to be some tough love and responsibility, especially when it involves money.

Not now.
