Difficulty in becoming a US citizen?

So how difficult is it to become a US citizen or get a visa if you are British born to a high-status family, are of young age, have excellent educational background (PHD etc) and know alot about US history and current affairs?

You mentioned a visa. If you are offered certain jobs, especially one involving your area of research, you can get in on a visa - J1 or H1B (I think it is called, now). But you have to be offered a job in an approved area (most university research and teaching positions qualify), and there are time limits on these visas. Also, there should be people in the organization which hires you who are thoroughly familiar with US visa regulations.

You can get a visa in weeks; permanent immigration can take years and can be expensive, though it can be arranged while you are working in the US with your visa,

If you've got a PhD you should have no trouble. There are many opportunities open to people with that level of education.

Or you can just come on a fisher boat and pretend that you are just unloading fish, then all of a suden run fast in to the city and stay here. That's what the filipinos do.

We should be asking for people like you to come into the UK instead of the unskilled eastern europeans that seem to stream into this over crowded island on the basis that our governement is a soft touch.

If you are British it is very easy in fact I think that is the easies country to immigrate from. America loves it's cousins across the ocean, cause saying pond sound freaking gay!

If you are a legal permanent resident it is not difficult to acquire US citizenship. Getting immigrant status is what's tough.

Bad news, man. You still have to go to the end of the line like everyone else. Except maybe illegals.
