I know I haven't been one to ask serious questions here but when your heart is breaking you make exceptions
Is there any way to retrieve a sausage link that accidentally was left on a plate and subsequently washed into the garbage disposal?
I've already called a plumber and the sewer department but they can't be here for hours.

Call Tublet. She's supposed to be a sausage magnet of sorts.

You called "a" plumber?!? What's wrong with you?!? Get your lazy @ss in there and start calling every plumber in the Yellow Pages until you can find one that can come out RIGHT NOW!!!
Time is precious!! If that sausage means anything to you, you will find a plumber pronto!
Call the freaking fire department! If old ladies can call the fire department to rescue their fat tabbies when puss is in the tree then you can call to get your sausage out of the garbage disposal!! Cut the power to the garbage disposal right now lest yoru jealous wife see this as a way to, uh, off the competition for your affections.

I know this is a difficult time for you, but you must realize that this sausage just wasn't meant to be eaten by you. It's hard to think of the future at a time like this, but you have to trust me, there are many more sausages in your future and I'm sure that one day you will find that special sausage, settle down and have a whole house full of Smokey Joes running around the house. The wound will heal my friend.

This has got to be a joke but, if not you might try this. If the garbage disposal hasn't yet been started. Get a wire coat hanger and stretch it out into a single wire. You may be able to retrieve the link by impaling it onto the wire. Good luck! Thanks for the 2 points!

Irretrievably lost I'm afraid !, Aaaargh !.
You are lucky you live in a permissive society, which doesn't hold sausages in proper respect.
In other places such negligence would be considered a serious offense, on a level with high treason or desertion in times of war.
I must admit to a certain sympathy with that attitude.
Never ever let it happen again !.

cut your pipes. then when the plumber and sewer department get there, they'll still have something to do.
better call a home remodeling person as well in case you have to knock out some walls to get to the pipes.

Smash your plumbing system up and find the sausages or the world will stop turning and will fall out of the galaxy

I'm sorry for your loss. You have to move on and break open that other package of sausages and start all over.....It will never replace your lost sausage but don't lose heart, you will smile again.

first of all, what kind of person are you to "accidentally" leave a sausage on a plate? haven't we been through this before? after this very difficult lesson..i bet you won't let that happen again, will you?

First off, is it Jimmy Dean? That's the best kind..
speaking from experience, the only way is to get a sledge hammer, slam it through your wall, crawl through the opening if you can, and make your way to the pipes. You might have to get out a wielding machine to melt the metal but hey, it's worth it remember!
