Condi Rice for McCain's V.P.?
Condi Rice certainly has a lot of foreign policy experience, she speaks Russian and is considered an expert in Soviet affairs. She is well-spoken but has never ran for political office.
1, What would be the downside of a McCain/Rice ticket?
2, The upside?
3, The possiblity on a 1 - 10 ... 1= no way, 10 = sure thing
I will send this to "VOTING" so all you nice folks can decide for yourselves if Condi would make a good VP candidate.

She would be a good VP, but McCain needs a solid conservative to balance out the ticket. Rice has also said she has absolutely no interest in elected office. Nothing is impossible so I'll give it a "2".

I think Condi is really brilliant. I think she -could- be president, and, given the proper values, she could do a good job. (The values are the problem, though. She has sold her soul to the dark side.)
But putting her on the ticket would be problematic. Mitt Romney's nosedive shows that many Republicans are just not ready to vote for a Mormon. Condi would scare away a lot more of the GOP's 'base'.
McCain wants to pick some 'old white man'. Some senator or congressman from 'middle America' who doesn't have too many strikes against him and can be made to look like an elder statesman. This is not an election for wild new ideas. McCain's got to play it -conservative- (no pun intended).

Very good choice although it should be switched around with Rice for Pesident and McCain as VP
More experience than Obama.
She was instumental in getting Sadam removed from power in Iraq. and the Taliban from controlling Afghanistan
Obama's policies are very naive. National health ins. I wonder who pays for it? The answer is about 250 million Americans who now have health ins.
Huge tax increases. Who pays? You guessed it the middle class
It took the Democrats about 9 months to ruin the economy by controlling Congress. How long will it take for them to get us in Great Depression 2 if they also control the presidency?
Please write the McCain for presidency staff and urge him to nominate Condi Rice for president.

1. The downside was already pointed out by Chris Rock. McCain could be assassinated by anyone willing to get a black person as president by any means possible.
2. I think you already pointed out the upside. Her stint as Secretary of State would be really useful as well.
3. I'll give the possibility a 2. I haven't heard any mention that McCain has been considering her as a running mate. I don't think the assassination fears would dissuade him, though.

By far the best choice.
If Condi is the VP...then no more race card for the media...no more "making history for the democrats" for the media. No more "old man" for the media.
THe dems would no longer be able to make the claim that "those white republican men are racists picking on poor black Obama"...that whole line of attack will be GONE
Condi is an excellent choice. When other dem blacks start calling her an Oreo, Obama will be steeped in racism because so many of the blacks that love Obama are racists against republican blacks. The term "OREO" is used ONLY by black democrats on republican blacks.
WHen Obama's black supporters start using racist terms, then your independent white voters will start leaving Obama, and siding with McCain.
Condi will expose racism in Obama's ranks...not by Obama, but by his mindless followers.

Oooh. Interesting thought.
Downside: Rice is not well received in some circles...not sure she is popular internationally....
Upside: Afro-American, woman (who is brilliant, BTW).
Kinda would take the novelty out of the Democratic ticket, now wouldn't it.
Source(s): I like it ... hmm, 7-8? - Anonymous1 decade ago
1. Her foreign policy has failed.
2. She seems a nice person.
3. 2

Yes, Rice is qualified except on election experince.
She can swing blacks vs. Obama if the latter is nominated.
2 out of 10.
