You can mix and match. Look at how many pieces are two tones and mix them together!
There are no hard and fast rules in fashion anymore. If you like the look than go for it.

you know i think you're generally supposed to wear only white or only yellow gold at a time.. i'm not really sure not doing so would be a fashion faux-pas, but i personally think it's in good taste to stick with one or the other!
i love yellow gold jewelry in the summer (hot with a tan!)
