Has PC renaming really gotten this insane?

With PC already run amok, now they're actually listing Good Friday and Easter Monday as each a "spring holiday" on school/government calendars. This of course is the same with December 25 as "winter holiday":

(example— http://www.warrenville.il.us/c_cal-event.aspx?id=5... )

Just search Google for ["Spring holiday" "March 21, 2008"] for hundreds of results.

I mean, what the hell is the point? If you're going to observe a holiday why do you REFUSE to name it? It's obvious that this is selective censorship because these "Spring holidays" always move to fall co-incidentally with Easter every year.

If I'm non-Christian, I'd be less "offended" if the state actually had the balls to name the Christian holiday they're observing. At least this way would be honest and not absurdly Newspeakish. On second thought, if I'm non-African-American (another PC term) am I supposed to be "offended" by Martin Luther King Day? Maybe they need to rename that to "Winter Holiday #2".

Update:

Not everyone celebrates MLK Day either but it's not listed as "Winter Holiday" on the calendar. And I know the whole Xmas/pagan deal, but the holidays is still CALLED Christmas on Dec. 25

Subsequent to the irrelevance of the Christian religion, these holidays are just going back to their original usages.

The Mid-winter festival was taken over by Christians and became "Christmas".

Easter used to celebrate the Spring equinox.

well technically they might not be observing the holiday and certainly not everyone celebrates Christmas. But if 80% of your students dont show up since it is something they celebrate then why not have a holiday break then? If you only let the christians not go to school during that time and made Jews and Muslims and atheists go youd have a lot of confusion. SO they name it SPRING BREAK and WInter Break...

by the way. The Christians stole these holidays from the paeans in Rome anyway. Its not like those dates were picked for the actual time of jesus birthday etc. They had a hard time converting people back in Roman Empire so they said HEY our holiday is the same as yours! your allowed to keep celebrating. Just use Jesus as the reason instead of your Tree God or whatever else they were celebrating... Where do you think the Bunny and Egg and tree and lights come from? You guessed it. Old pagan holiday the Christians stole..... I

Its just common sense to have holidays when many people wont be coming to school so they call it spring break etc... geez... You really need to learn a little more about this stuff before you make yourself look silly again.

I'm okay with calling them winter and spring holidays.

Are you aware that some hospitals and other institutions that request info on the client's religion use the term "spiritual identity"? That seems appropriate since some people do not want to be grouped in a religion.

It's a wonder they are still allowed to use "holiday", being a bastardisation of "holy day". That's bound to "offend" some fool.
