Do you cringe at the number of people who give thumbs down to good responses?
It happens to me and I see it happening to others, also. People who know something about a topic put their heart into giving a rational answer. Then they get a thumbs down. What if some people looking for good advice skip over the rational answers just because they got a thumbs down? Wouldn't that mean some people ignore the good advice and instead latch onto only popular advice? I cringe. Do you want to cringe, too?

I kinda wish there was an option to say *why* you gave it a thumbs down, I think that would help prevent them from overlooking the whole answer. There've been times when I've only disagreed with one part, and had to do a thumbs down because that one part was so off.
The other thing I hate is when an asker gets twenty, well thought out answers to a question, and then picks the one that disagrees with the rest, despite terrible grammar and no logic, because it was what they wanted to hear. Sometimes I wish we could give askers a thumbs down.
Source(s): It just happened to me... http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AkfCZ... Thumbs down for my answer when everything was factually correct. I think the person who did it just didn't like the idea of weaning, as there seemed to be a lot of people in that topic who were probreast feeding. - julzLv 71 decade ago
That might be my number one pet peeve with Answers, is that good answers get thumbs-down and crap answers get thumbs-up. Especially if it's a factual question that has a right answer, and the right answer gets thumbs-down because it's not what the asker wanted to hear.

I get the sense that sometimes, people skate through and assign thumbs fown for no apparent reason, and it incites people to get angry and vindictive. Others give negative answers to stop another answer from being "best" or because they don't like what that answer says, whether or not it is accurate.
