How to repair a scratched leather sofa?
I have a fairly new leather sofa and my kitten had decided to scratch it when trying to jump up on it. Its not like she has sharpened her claws on it its just a scratch on the seat but it has taken the colour out. Is there any sort of colour polish i could use to put the colour back because the scratch is not that bad you can only notice the colour difference.
Thanks
its brown.
I had thought about shoe polish but didnt know if i was being silly!

Please do not use shoe polish on your sofa as it will come off on your clothes.
If the scratches are just surface scratches and the leather is a dark colour you can use Easy Colour which is a simple wipe on product that will help disguise the scratches.
If the damage has gone deeper or is on a light coloured sofa yo uwill need to have a touch up colour mixed for you to match the leather. This will then come with instructions on how to fix the damage.

There are many professional products to buy from $20 to $50. A good suggestion is shoe polish or a colored marker. The cream color might be hard to match. I repaired a leather/fox coat that was 40+ years old with a black permanent marker-like new. You can try. There are some furniture repair markers; Guardsman makes one for wood that is called a "Touch-Up Pen," comes in 3 colors, one very light. It might work on leather.

If the leather isn't too dark under the dye/finish, you could use anything that has a wax or oil base to it. If you choose shoe polish, it may leave behind a residue that may smudge onto clothing that comes in contact. Still, it may work. If you'd have to go out and buy a product, you might first consider using a crayon or eye makeup pencil. You might get just the right amount of coverage with just Vaseline, or lip balm, due to the oil/wax in them. The whole thing really depends on how dark brown it is, and it doesn't really seem like you need to "repair" it, just mask the lightness of the scratch. Right?
Good luck!

If you use polish, all you will do is darken the scratch, but you will still see the scratch. Moreover, the polish probably will not work--it is only for scuffs. I suggest calling Touch-Up Solutions, or going to www.touchupsolutions.com, and seeing what they have for leather repair. You will find wax sticks that fill in scratches, markers designed for leather repair, and more advanced materials. Call and talk to them, they will tell you what you need.
