San Franciscans... what does SOMA stand for...?
...for some reason I missed the boat on this acronym... Even after having lived in the city for a while.
And I get the feeling it's something as trivial as OMG.
Cool. I knew it was a neighborhood, and after hearing it in context i figured it was something like (S)outh (O)f (M)arket (A)rea... just plain ol' South Of Market didn't seem to fit.... SF Dude cleared it up... Much appreciated guys. Cheers.

(So)uth of (Ma)rket Street
It's the same shorthand as New York's SoHo neighborhood:
(So)uth of (Ho)uston Street

I'm not from San Francisco, but I visited recently. I'm not 100% positive, but I'm pretty sure that it means South of Market St.
