Should the following players continue with tennis:?
Marat Safin ugly losses to everyone
Tommy Haas lucky to win a set nowadays in nothing events
Amelie Mauresmo still winning some matches but no longer a threat
Ivan Ljubicic rapidly declining skills and confidence
Nicholas Kiefer, Sebastian Grosjean and Arnaud Clement (he can stick to doubles where he is still relevant)
The commitment these players have to make (physically and mentally) is tremendous to compete and I dont think it is worth it for any of them. I think they are ruining their legacy and further injuries. I hope they all retire before they get bit by the injury bug again.

No, they should play on as long as they still love the game. If everyone quit because they are losing or just because they can't win tournaments anymore then may be 50-60% of all players should quit.

Until they have something else they want to do MORE than play on the tour, I would advise them to stay.
Every stout heart of a champion tennis player believes in the "comeback."
If all the pros who dropped out of the top 10 were expected to retire, tennis would not have the depth and experience it has now. Who would be around to compete against the new kids coming up? This level of competition -- which makes all players better -- is what drives the business of tennis.
Last, if tennis is the thing you love to do most, why should you quit the opportunity to play it at the highest levels?
Wouldn't any of you "pay" to play against any of those pros?
When any of the players listed above quit, I'd love to hire them for my courts!

Why shouldn't they continue playing tennis? It's how they make a living, and it's a reliable source of income. I would only think about quitting tennis if I weren't able to qualify for Tier 1 events anymore.

Ohh...it sounds scary...but you know tennis is their carrier, it marries between profession and passion, between interests and proceeds, between appearance and fees, between life and death....it will not be an easy decision to retire. Unless they really reach to a point when they wake up in the morning and realise, "ohhh...I shouldn't play anymore, it has been good than ever" then they will hung their rackets and retire.
All the players you mentioned are mostly declining in terms of competitiveness, skills, pace, energy and confidence...the fact is players will come and go, and what will remain is our tennis sport and it is not short of potential upcoming players who will bring lasting impressions to all the fans worldwide.

I get your point, Federer seems to just win everything anyway and if it's not him, it will be Djockavich (how the hell do u spell it i cant work it out) so pretty much, very highly unlikely to win a Grand Slam for any of the peoplez you mentioned, and forget any French Open/Clay court matches, there you have Nadal making the ball bounce more than two metres high on every forehand at 120km/ph... (No exasaggeration there either, bloody two metre high bounce at 120km/ph GRRRRR!!

but they are still in the circuit....i think they have nowhere to go or maybe the best business proposition isnt laid on their table so far...or maybe they are still enjoying the benefits of playing in the tour....i would say the main factor here is declining skills and losing confidence which just most recently Federer had....

YES. it's useless to give up now after they've worked so hard so i think that they should just continue (: and things will get better!

Maybe Safin should retire as he has made a huge amount of money in property although i wish he would play much better as he is a big personaility.
