Ok, what in the heck are the Bears doing?

They trade Griese, in my opinion, their ONLY good quarterback and they sign Rex and Orton for extensions. I have to ask you Bears fans, do you see something in either one of these guys that I don't? Rex was abismal all year long and the only saving grace was Griese when Rex got hurt. Orton filled holes, but was far from stellar...I just don't get it. Can someone explain it to me?

PLUS, they let Barrian get away...Are they planning on relying on #23 to catch passes?

Apparently they're REALLY counting on the draft to rebuild that offense.

My assumption is that they are going to draft a QB (Flacco perhaps?) that they feel can compete for the starting role. Grossman makes a nice backup option, and Orton is strictly a 3rd QB.

Unfortunately, it looks as if they are really counting on Hester to be a wide receiver, which I'm pretty skeptical about. He is good for the occassional big play, but I don't think he can learn the "little things" to make him a great WR. He's a better decoy than anything. Combine that with an awful running game and struggling/aging line, and that offense will be painful to watch regardless of who lines up at WR. Maybe they know something we don't know, but from the looks of it, they're trying to completely rebuild the offense.

Saving grace was Griese? He was just as bad as the other two. Griese was do a $300,000.00 roster bonus today if the Bears kept him. Good riddance to Griese. This is the last stand for both Rex and KO. They were the best two options. There was know one else available to get. Maybe they can go after Brady Quinn next year. Barrian was my favorite Bears player, but there is no way in hell he is worth 6 years $ 42 million with $16 guaranteed. I dont know what they are going to do with this offense. I hope they sign Bryant Johnson at WR and draft a RB.

V V is nuts. The Bears are not going anywhere.

When I look at the QB situation, they apparently think that Griese isn't any better than Grossman (who took them to a Super Bowl two years ago). They have to think that between him and Orton (who won a ton of games 3 years ago) that maybe one of them will regain their winning touch and mature a little. I also have to think that they will be drafting someone in the 2nd or 3rd round and hope that if Grossman or Orton can't be great, they can at least be serviceable until the rookie can play. I don't think that Daunte Culpepper is the answer, and McNabb is not going anywhere.

I think that they felt Berrian was overpriced, and I agree. You can't overpay everyone. However, letting Berrian AND Muhammed go was STUPID. I guess they must have their eyes on a couple 1st or 2nd round WRs. But we all know how their last 1st Round WR turned out - David Terrell anyone?

I think that Hester can fill the deep threat that Berrian provided, but if he gets hurt playing Offense their Special Teams will be devastated.

On the plus side, they kept Lance Briggs. So, they do have some type of plan. Things are not all bad... though they certainly aren't good. Just remember that making a big splash in free agency does not equal success - ask the 49ers.

I'm as confused as you are!!! The Bears have NOTHING now! Well maybe Urlacker but he didn't show me anything this past season either. They better make some good picks in the draft

They're trying to sabotage the franchise so no one in Chicago supports them anymore, and then they can relocate to L.A.
