How do I change the startup programs on Windows VISTA ?

Stomp auto-starting programs. Click the Windows Icon on the bottom left (where Start used to be in XP) and type "msconfig" in the box and hit enter. Click the Startup tab and look at all that junk that loads when you launch your PC. Do you really need "Adobe Reader Speed Launch"? Probably not. Turn off anything else that looks useless, but be careful not to disable your anti-virus and important system components.

Open the start menu and type "msconfig". Go to the startup tab at the top and you can check/uncheck the boxes you want to run/not run at startup. Hope this helps =]

Get ccleaner: http://www.filehippo.com/ and install it. UNCHECK the Yahoo toolbar optino if you don't want it.
Once you start the program, click on Tools then Startup - will show you all the programs runnign at startup and allow you to get rid of the ones you don't want.
Ccleaner also has a very nice registry cleaner and temp files cleaner as well.
