What rock-related songs did they play at your high school dance(s)?
That's right, it's time to put a date on yourself. What rock-related songs can you remember hearing at any of your high school dances?
My high school was very biased towards Rap and Pop music, as I think most high schools are. They did manage to squeeze in these songs...
"1979" by Smashing Pumpkins
"Shimmer" by Fuel
"Hanging By A Moment" by Lifehouse
"Yellow" by Coldplay
"Here's To The Night" by Eve 6
"The Space Between" by Dave Matthews Band
"Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life)" by Green Day
"Don't Speak" by No Doubt
"Every Morning" by Sugar Ray
"Zoot Suit Riot" by Cherry Poppin' Daddies
"One Week" by Barenaked Ladies
"I Don't Want To Miss A Thing" by Aerosmith
Wow, sounds like you people had the same problem I did. My high school dances hardly even acknowledged rock music. The songs listed above is what I heard over the span of 4 years, with about 2 dances a year. So yeah, do the math.

Wow Gk, They actually played Aerosmith at your school dance? I begged for the DJ to play any song by them and the guy said "sure thing", and never did.
The one thing I always hated about my high school dances was that they had this thing against playing rock music. Everything was hip hop and pop...blahh... The only rock song I can remember ever being played was Paradise City by Guns N Roses.
EDIT: Thinking back on it, I remember them playing Here's To The Night by Eve 6 and You and Me by Lifehouse. That song was played at my senior prom.

I really don't remember what was playing during the high school dances, for good reason - though not to be mentioned here as it would be a bad influence on all the youngsters. HOWEVER... at my Jr. High pep rallies we would rock out to Queen's "We Will Rock You", circa 1977 foot stomping version.

Our dances were all hip-hop and pop. It sucked. I just graduated last year and some of the songs I remember from prom were Justin Timberlake's "Sexy Back", Sean Kingston's "Beautiful Girl", Mario something-or-other's "Gallery" and a bunch of rap songs. I guess that's what happens when there isn't good rock nowadays.

My highschool doesn't have any school dances except prom and some other dances.... My first elementary school had quiet a bit and so did my second elementary... They would usually play rap and like pop/poser punk.. No really good music. Nothing like Smashing Pumkins or stuff like that.

The only one is "I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing" by Aerosmith. Hey, I guess High Schools like that one..

I remember one band doing a really good cover of Tell Me All the Things That You Do, a Fleetwood Mac tune...

I honestly don't remember any rock songs being played at all. The only song I remember that wasn't rap or hip-hop was "I'm Amazed by You" by Tim McGraw.

your list sounds about right--but they threw that "tootsie roll" song and a few other clubby cheesy hip hop songs...i was never there for the whole thing- boarding school so we always snuck off to smoke and drink scotch from a flask..ahhh..those were good times!
