Hows the best way to get editorials?
If you have a story to tell and it could help women the world over with a health problem, what is the best way to get this story into the paper. Contacting the right person is imortant, how do I get there? Is there a free PR route I could use?

I think papers and magazines are reluctant to print any health advice that is based on personal experience and may not be medically verifiable. Your best starting point might be to see if there is an organisation which is already dealing with this particular health issue, or the nearest area, and check the facts with them, and find out what they are doing about publicity.
If you feel you can only use the media route though, look and see if there are any papers and magazines that publish similar types of stories, and contact them with the outline of yours.

Er.........After writing the above in all naivety, I have just looked at your profile and see that you are actually wanting to promote your products which puts a rather different angle on your question, you presumably have been through all the rigmarole of trying to get them medically tested and endorsed and doing your own advertising and publicity. Maybe a magazine would take it up if you got some women to do informal tests on them and write about their experiences.

This very much depends on the content of your editorial. If, as the previous answerer stated, it contains a "this is what cured me" theme, most newspapers and magazines will be wary. If however, it is an interesting story and you are not using it as an "advert" - there's no reason for them not using it as a feature.
Yes, contacting the right person is important. Try phoning various publications (choose ones relevant to your topic to start with if you can), asking for the name of their health correspondant or features editor, and their direct email. Don't try calling them direct, they get dozens of people calling up that they dont have time to talk to.
Email/write to them with a brief outline of your story, with your contact details clearly displayed at the top. If it is something they want to use, they'll be in touch by return when they can - but don't pester them with emails or calls because no matter how good the story - no-one responds well to harrassment!
