why do more democrats vote than republicans?
if you look at any state's primary results and how many people voted for who... the democratic vote outnumbered the Rep vote at least 2 to 1.
Also the supporters of Obama donate way more than supporters of Mccain.
Obama donations outnumber Mccain donations almost 4 to 1.
There is very little fundraising that Mccain has been able to do compared to Obama fundraising.
Also Obama as of now leads Mccain by 12 points in election poll. Even though it is still too early and poll numbers can change, the fact that Mccain also trails Hillary in polls speaks he may have a hard time in election.
What do these factors predict about election 2008?
To me all these factors point towards a democratic victory in november 2008, similar to the way they won house and senate in 2006.

because there is no real race left with the republicans. mccain was the obvious winner. there was a slight chance with democrats so their votes mattered more.
EDIT: not to mention, i'm a texas republican who voted for hillary to try b/c mccain stands a better chance against her, so that skews the results. it adds one to demos and subtracts one that normally would have been repubs, so it's doubled in their favor.

1) Because Democrats have an exciting battle for the nominee whereas mathematically McCain has clinched the GOP nomination. Only diehard McCain supporters (and opponents) are probably going to bother to vote in the GOP primary. If the anecdotal stories are correct (and it's impossible to verify), many are voting Dem if the primary is open so they can choose the most "beatable" nominee (i.e. Hillary in most head-to-head polls)
2) There are several ways to look at it. Either Obama supporters are wealthier in general (and if you believe that a strong portion of his base is college educated people that's not so far-fetched) and thus more able to contribute in larger amounts or McCain's support is more tepid. I'd say the fact that Obama would be a "historic" President (first African-American in the White House) also probably helps prime the pump with donors.
3) In the interest of accuracy, the 12 point figure you cite for Obama's lead is in ONE poll (CBS News/NY Times). In other polls, he loses to McCain by as many as 5 (Rasmussen). The average at RealClearPolitics right now shows him winning by 5.1 points.

I'll give Obama credit for one thing...and only one thing....he brings out the young people to vote plus a large number of blacks. A national poll at this time isn't important because McCain has not begun to preach his ideas for America. Also many of the voters for McCain voted for Hillary to upset the election and the Democratic party. McCain isn't my man but he will do OK in the general election against Obama or Hillary....that is if the Republicans unite and vote for him.

it may disturb the time area continum and the universe could be destroyed. to no longer say it somewhat is extra suitable this way yet human beings are Democrats or Republicans because of the fact they adjust to the final stance or platform however occasion they %.. the concept is that the candidate on that value ticket will follow those rules. the situation comes up in places like Wisconsin the place the Republicans are dealing with a remember they'll probable lose. So what do they do? They get a number of their very own Republicans to run for place of work as a Democrat. In a nutshell, it somewhat is probable extra suitable in the event that they pay attention to their speeches yet then you incredibly've the situation the place they'll promise however they think of the persons interior the room needs to pay attention. it somewhat is not any doubt considered one of the subject concerns being tossed approximately on Mitt Romney. z

Actually they do not reflect reality, a lot of republicans are voting in the democratic primaries so they can alter the outcome, and there is no need for a large turn out for the Republican primaries because the nominee was decided a long time ago. i hope people continue to believe that there will be a low turnout on the republican side during the General election because that should cause a lot of Democrats to stay home.

like all else said the reps have been done for a while, the poll you saw is one of the few that say the oppisite of the majority giving McCain the upper hand
Exit polls showed Reps voting in heavy numbers for Obama and Hilary still won, they went for Obama because they dont want the Clinton machine, Obama is a blow off that why Hillary offered him VP

Because this election is different for the Democrats. Democrats aren't voting for anoter white man for the Presidency, they have the option to elect the first female president or black male president. Thats why the democrats have higher numbers in the poles. Don't forget about the independents that can vote either way (in some states).

Democrats, collectively speaking, may have a lot less than Republicans but they have a lot more to lose because, much of the time, everything they have is at risk. So we, as Democrats, must do what precious little we can to offset the obvious.

Perhaps it could be about dealing with almost 8 years of Bush. Also there are two Democratic candidates who may make history for this country. This is a very exciting election no matter what.

only takes a few dibolds to do the job of thousands of voters.. they dont need as many voters..
actually too.. the republicans are voting for hillary.. so that mcain can run against her
the polls showed that mcain would beat hillary but lose to obama.
so right now obama is running against hillary suporters and mcain supporters.. from here on o ut the numbers are going to be fudged.
