And they call this global warming?
We have record snowfall all across the globe, we have temps that have been lower than normal (in the last 3-4 months) and yet, they still say we are causing global warming.
So, two questions:
1. Is it a big hoax that humans are creating this "global catastrophy"?
2. Why are many scientists being shut down when they say they are skeptical about Global Warming?
First, I know there is a difference btwn global warming and climate change...however, the big enviro-nazis are calling it global warming, so I am using their lingo.
Secondly, when I say "shut down", I mean, they are gettting zero voice in the media. These individuals have won cases over in England which proves they aren't just "agenda-driving" scientists.
To be honest, I think some of you are on kool-aid.
With all due respect yaahoo...I think you are stretching the truth....

"more than 500 scientists have published evidence refuting at least one element of current man-made global warming scares"

global warming is and is not a hoax.
saying that global warming is happening and its man made is stretch of the scientific truth at best. we have known for decades that we are due for rapid climate FLUCTUATION in the near future eventually culminating in the begining of the next mini-iceage. we came to this conclusion from tracking climate trends for the past couple hundred thousand years through geological records like ocean sediments and ice core samples. however, there are more factors than we can account for relating to the causes. no one says anything about it, but H2O is the biggest green house gas contributor BY FAR at over 95% of the green house effect, none of which is man made. CO2 is next at just over 3%, a significant portion of which is not man made. the man made portion of the green house effect, depending on who you ask falls somewhere between a quarter of a precet through 3 precent. other factors on climate change including but not limited to solar fluctuations (which have been observed, but not predicted), magnetosphere dynamics, ocean currents, deforrestation, surface reflectivity of the planet and geological changes (like volcanoes and earthquakes) and they are far too many and too complicated for any current model to begin predicting. Hydrocarbon burning does emit chemicals into the atmosphere which trap heat, but the planetary eco-magneto-solar-geological-system is WAY to complicated to say anything with any amount of certainty.
so two points to take away:
1. Global warming is NOT global warming, its global climate change
2. there are absolutely way too many factors involved for any self-respecting scientist to even hypothesize about the root cause of climate change, let alone pinpoint it to man, and further more narrow it down to his release of hydrocarbon emissions.

Actually the ""majority"" of Scientist do see something is wrong.
When we observe global weather—the extremes in precipitation, floods, droughts, storms—and note its development, we can rightly say that these extremes have quadrupled over the last 50 years.. There is no getting around that. Warming -cooling it is all weather related.
. Meteorologists, National Aeronautics and Space Administration: , Enviroment, Oceanic and Atmospheric Scientist, Archaeologist, --the list goes on--all say in our time things have accelerated unlike ever before noted in one time period. And a very fast rate.
The weather—which was always unpredictable anyway—seems to be increasingly erratic.. Rather cooling or heating.. And a smart person would take note of all that has been proved .
Like anything else we need to sort out what is said and By who. Some reports are not accurate and some always jump on any bandwagon they can. .
I trust these Scientists and agencies who are making nothing on their reports. Unlike those who were paid to dispute it.
Since it has accelerated much--there is a" big worry". The problem is no one wants to deal with it as it would mean you have to give up things people have become depended on or enjoy
I hope you will see and remember --our children will face more if we do nothing but deny the truth.

1. No, it's not. There is no "record snowfall all across the globe" - it's sporadic in parts of the world, right now in the northern hemisphere. On any given year, you're going to get record snowfalls in some places at some times; at others, record heat. Just because it's cold doesn't mean global warming isn't happening. Furthermore, we're talking about a global increase in temperature of degree or two over a 20 year period at any given point.
What does that mean to you? It means, on the average, that over a 20 year timespan, your average temperature will go up by a degree or two. That doesn't seem like much...but there's a huge difference between 33 degrees Farenheit and 31 degrees Farenheit; so at many places around the globe, water that would be frozen (think icebergs and polar caps) is now liquid. That raises water levels, and as a result has an impact on borders where water meets earth/dirt/sand near major water bodies; it also means that there's a reduction of available water at *non*-major water bodies (because now it takes more water to keep your wheat crops growing, because it evaporates faster...because it's warmer.) Thus, while there's more water in the Atlantic Ocean...there's less water in the Colorado river. The resulting increase could, frankly make your local beach go away (that's an obvious result...there are others that are, in fact, catastrophic) - or, if you're inland, your river dries up.
By the way: I think it's 6" of snow = 1" of rain. It takes a lot of snow to produce any reasonable quantity of water.
The first source link is from NASA; if you don't trust them, then I'm guessing you think we never made it to the moon. Adjust your tinfoil hat as appropriate.
2. That's a political question; many folks would tell you they aren't, and that in fact, the current Presidential administration has shut down US government scientists who say they agree with the concept of global warming; there are many instances on the web.
I also included a link to NPR that discusses the impact of other things (such as fires) on global warming. You'll note that they treat it as a fact.
Finally, there's a link to the Weather Channel's "Scenes from a drought" that shows you what I'm talking about in terms of inland waterways.
You won't give me any points for the best (or even correct) answer, because you don't want to hear this; that's obvious from the way you asked the questions. Truth is truth, though.

Between 1980 and 2000 it warmed. Since then the temperature has held steady but hasn't warmed further. In some areas - including where I live - it has cooled down in the last few years. This is despite predictions that it would continue to warm. When it was warming they said "global warming" - now that it's not, they say "climate change" so that no matter what happens, it's our fault and justifies new taxes.

No, it is not a hoax. Whether it is human interference or just natural climate change the earth is getting warmer.
You are taking a very short period of time (this winter) to make your point while purposely ignoring that since 1979 we have significantly jumped up .12 degrees Celsius to .22 degrees. This is double the difference between the years from 1860-1900.
There will be flukes in climate change (like this winter) but warming is not a fluke... it is a trend. I don't know if it is because of human consumption or just natural environmental changes... but it is real.
We should really be looking at this from a scientific point of view rather than a political view. When we use this as a political argument we tend to ignore the reality of the big picture.
The overwhelming majority of scientists thinks this is real... there really isn't a argument of global warming's existence. What they aregue about is the causes of it... and, once again, a overwhelming majority of scientists think this is mostly caused by human consumption.

As a chemist, formerly working in the environmental field, I have tried to explain this time and time again, but people are unable to understand concepts that can't be expressed in a 10 second sound bite.
Yes, it is global warming, yes man does contribute to it. No, it doesn't mean that temperatures everywhere will be warmer, but it does mean that weather will overall be more severe.
As an example, I looked at the jet stream map this morning and it is dipping all the way down into Texas. Twenty years ago, it hardly ever went south of Kentucky. But as more energy is supplied to the atmosphere (in the form of heat) the jet stream dips lower and lower. So parts of Texas are due to experience snow today, possibly as far south as Dallas.
If people want to be critical of scientific studies, which they are intellectually incapable of understanding, they should first invest the time (about 7 years for a Masters in Chemistry, Meteorology, or physics) and rejoin the discussion when they are equipped to make an intelligent comment.
Until that time, I wold suggest the following quote, variously attributed to Samuel Johnson and Mark Twain be employed:
"It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt"
Thanks for removing mine.

1. Yes.
2. A lot of people's will be jobless if man-made global warming was proved to be untrue. Also, do you think you'll get any funding if you say nothing is wrong with the current climate? Nope, you won't. The media generally tries to get their headlines read, so "Sea levels predicted to rise 20 feet" would be better then "Scientific studies say AGW is a myth."

Higher snowfall can actually be caused by warming. Very cold air cannot hold moisture so snowfall is lower in super cold temperatures. In my area of New England, we usually have temps in the minus mid-teens in Jan and Feb. This year the temps have been in the plus mid-teens (20 degrees warmer). Consequently, we've had a record snowfall.

Actually, a number of american scientists have publicly stated over the last 6 months that the Bushg Administration specifically instructed them NOT to use the term "Global Warming" in any US government report.

to the people who know that golbal warming is occuring name the 10 hottest years on record i know when 6 of then occurred so post with knowledge. a HINT of the youtubers on here 6 of the hottest years on record were in the 1930"s and 1940's.....FACT that only leave 4 for all 60 of the last years.

It is a big hoax and the scientists who are saying that are coming out swinging. The latest one is the founder of the Weather Channel. The global temperature dropped .6 to .75 degrees Celsius last year alone. The biggest one year drop in over a century. So much for global warming.
