Computer Software Q, please advise.?

Since this gained little response in the General category, I'll try it here.

For various reasons I'm trying to find info. for creating XP restore, onto disks. I have a laptop, with a licensed XP installed, but misplaced the orig. CD. I'm trying to get info on creating restore onto disk, most specific to laptops. I have the space and time, Microsoft just doesn't offer the info for doing what I want. They can/I can restore the Laptop XP IF in fact I can be online connected, but that issue is currently a prob, since my DSL is malfunctioning and I'm on dial up for any WWW availability.

That connection issue will be resolved. I just want to know how to create XP restore disks, from this laptop, and system I have installed. Thank you.

Update:

Thank you both but neither directly relate to the issue. The Laptop currently is without an OS, and YES I realize I can purchase one. My Q certainly relates to what even windows offers in creating restore disks for an OS in the event of the issue I'm currently enduring. IN FACT I've found XP PULLED from laptops with codes and keys, for sale online, so I know it can be done. I'm remedial, but have a level of intelligence that allows me to understand answers that actually can help me. You both are appreciated. I need an XP bootable CD, even copied/cloned, from my own licensed, installed software, and happen to believe it's possible.

Well, if you like the way your computer is set up at this time, you can make an image of your hardrive with a program such as nero or other cd writing softwares. This way if something happens like loss of data and your set up ou simply re-load tha entire image. When making a restore disc the option is only there while installing xp for the first time, if you personally installed it that is. While installing XP it askd would you like to create a recovery disc. One other way is very difficult whereas you have to go into your windows files and copy certain files out of a directory i386. I've never done it because of the difficulty of it. But I would imagine that there is a program out there that does it for you. Go to your search engine, notice I didn't say Google, and type in how to create an XP recovery disc and see what you get.

I'm pretty sure there is no way to make another restore disk directly from the operating system. You'll probably have to order a new one. What brand of laptop is it ? Some brands like HP have a hidden partition built into it for complete system restore.
