And why?

it'll be number three for me. While I like the idea of and ID card (all your info on one bit of plastic, so you just need that, and no more passports and it can help identify people easly etc) i will have one over my dead body. I'm not having it, simple as that.
The reasons are because the system is SO open to abuse (either by the government or other people, which is way too big of a risk to take), fraudsters would eventually crack it open and make fakes (that is near impossible to stop) and the government has already proven that it cannot keep sensitive information on anyone without losing half of it, so why the hell should I have ALL my sensitive info on ONE LITTLE BIT OF PLASTIC?
Not to mention the implications for civil liberites that we are supposed to have in the UK. It's like the big-brother state has become one step closer to reality. I don't know about anyone else, but I'll fight this. If, in the next general election, there is a party that says "we will get rid of the ID cards" then they've got my vote. Anyone else want to get rid?

3 Over my dead body...I have enough to carry without extra plastic and why should I be forced to carry something that I don't wish too. Unless of course the government will employ an ID card carrier person for me!

Unless I'm threatened with imprisonment, never. I'm confused as to the government legislation on this (suprise, suprise ;] ), are they becoming compulsory in 4 years time or just very beneficial to have one if you want to go abroad etc.
ID cards are the first step on the road to allowing governments to implant children with a chip when they are born, a civil rights disaster.

i'm really constructive identity playing cards are available on a voluntary foundation contained in the united kingdom, even if you should use them contained in the united kingdom for flying i do not understand. notwithstanding once you've a drivers license that should be adequate for an better 1/2 and toddlers flight. As continuously, call the airline/airport to be constructive.

I would quite happily carry one! It's not like its going to have your bank account and pin number details on it is it!
If its a Photo card then thats even better...i would like to know that people have to prove their identity when asked to by the police or whatever. Briliant idea...why not make Britain safer?
I am 16 and i live in suffolk. The county council have already given all 13-19 year old's something called an 'explore card' which acts as proof of age and identity and also gives you loads of great discounts! All my friends carry them and they dont find it a big deal! Im sure if teenagers can cope with this then so can adults! Come on great britain...get with the programme!

Yes, as Peter H says, my details have already been 'LOST' by the child benefit agency and by the DVLA and by the education people.... there is probably more info about me lost too. I just cant remember right now but he is right. Why give them more to lose. And what about our freedom in this country and the expression innocent until proven guilty. Seems like we are guilty till proven innocent these days.

Put me down as a 3, why should I have to prove who I am just because this and previous governments have totally lost all track of who is in this country, the illegals will still manage to fiddle it like they do everything else.
What about naturist's ? where are they supposed to keep em??

Anyone who gave me a thumbs down. I've actuallly had a letter saying they have lost it and they're sorry. Does that make it ok? No.
