What did God plant the first plants in...?

...knowing there was no dirt... since dirt is made of minerals PLUS decayed plant material and microbes (fungi and animals).

or were the first plants planted in clay and rocks... and then over time they evolved to grow in dirt?

or did god plant some plants first then came back later to plant more when dirt was available?
