Late period - can't be pregnant?
I am 5 days late on my period. I had some spotting the other day but that was it. I have had my period for 17 years – I am never late unless I am pregnant. BUT – I can’t be pregnant because I had my tubes tied 5 years ago when I was 24. So, I guess what my question is – what could be causing this? I don’t think AI am under any more stress than I normally am. I really don’t want to go to the doctor for no reason. Any ideas?

You know, it is still possible to get pregnant with your tubes tied. I know a woman that had that happen to her. I think you should take a test just to be sure.

Skipping a period every now and again is perfectly normal, and if you are otherwise perfectly healthy, should be nothing to be concerned about.
I would like you to be aware, however (even though I am sure you already are), that tubal ligations are not 100% at preventing pregnancy; there are rare cases in which pregnancy can occur and are much more likely to be ectopic, which can be life-threatening if not dealt with very quickly. You are likely not pregnant, but since you have had this procedure performed, I would take a pregnancy test. If you decide against a HPT, be aware that if an ectopic pregnancy bursts, it will cause a sharp pain in either side of your lower abdomen.

Stress, age, weight are the biggest things that affect your cycle like this. And, remember there have been cases where women have somehow gotten pregnant after having their tubes tied (God forbid).
I stopped having my period and went without one at several different times in my life. 1) when I was nursing my babies and 2) when I got xtremely heavy and went 10 yrs without a period. 3) when I was horribly stressed and worried about possibly BEING Pregnant as a young girl!!!
If none of those things could be a possibility, and if you don't start your period normally your next cycle, it would be wise to check with your doctor.

Well first of all you could still get pregnant after having your tubes tied. After a while your tube will untie themselves. If you are worried about your period than the stress from that might cause your period to be late. If I was in this situation, I would refrain from sex for at least two weeks and if you still dont get it you might want to see you doctor. Also you might want to buy a cheap pregnancy test if your that worried.

Tubal ligations are not always 100% successful. I'd take a pregnancy test just to be sure. Then I'd go to the doctor anyway. If you don't think it's stress related, I'd be examined anyway -- or just call your doctor's office and ask to speak to a nurse.

ive heard of cases where women who get their tubes tied still become pregnant.
yikes.
just excercise more, eat healthy, and relax.
if it doesn't show up in a week, go to a doctor.

well first off stop stressing about it. stress can prolong you from getting your period. and if it doesn't come soon you should go to your gyn doctor just to be safe.
