Can someone explain to me the rule for writing a spell to your spell book in D&D?
According to what I'm reading, in order to copy a spell into your spellbook, you must make a Spellcraft Check of DC 20+Spell level. I created my character from scratch, and my Spellcraft is only 7 (I applied my ranks unevenly with the most in Concentration and Spellcheck) Does it mean I have to get to 20 Spellcraft in order to copy the spell?

You've got the gist of it down. But you have to understand thats for random spells you want to add to it.
The 2 "free" spells you get a level do not require the Spell craft Check.
It would also help to know what level you are. With 7 ranks i'm assuming your 4th level. So you would have Spellcraft +INT mod for your total modifier (lets assume you have a 16 INT)
7+3 (INT MOD)=10
So your spell craft check would be 1d20+10
to copy a 2nd level spell into your spell book you would need to meet or beat a DC 22. So basically you would have to roll a 12 on the dice.
