POLL: Who thinks that St. Patricks Day is just idiots' excuse to get drunk?
I know there actually is a meaning behind the holiday. But I want to know if you go up to any of the people in a bar in St. Patricks Day, can they answer what St. Patricks Day is really. I doubt any of them would know. It's just an excuse to get drunk in my opinion. What about you?

100% - even the non-Irish use it for an excuse.
BTW, everyone forgets that 3/19 is St. Joseph's Day, Patron St of Italy, you're supposed to wear red, but we don't go out and get drunk because of it!

Want another excuse? Come down to the University of Illinois for Unofficial St. Patrick's Day (you'll have to wait til next year though cuz it was last weekend). Basically the entire campus starts drinking at friday at 7 am and on through the day and night in celebration of st patty's day, since the real one is always during spring break. Its pretty crazy, sea of green.

I completely agree with you! I'm tired of walking on drunk people on St. Patricks Day!! LOL

It being a holiday associated with the Irish, how could getting drunk be anything but a tribute to Irish people everywhere.
No, really, I think most people think it is all about wearing green, getting kissed and green beer.

No, I do not think that it is. I like to drink on Saint Patrick's Day, but I do not need an "excuse" - if I want to drink, I will do so, regardless of whether or not it is a holiday.

I think it's that way here in the States!
I think there other holidays which are just way too overdone by the retailers! Mother's, Father's days, Christmas..

I'm sorry. I didn't know I HAD to know about a holiday's historical significance in order to celebrate it. I must've missed that memo...
If that question was supposed to make me feel bad, try again. I'm hittin' the pub. Because I can.
Being over 21 kinda gives me that right, you know...
