Hardest METAL you are capable of listening to?
Give examples.
For me it is Metallica, Black Sabbath and Iron Maiden. I love them but anything heavier I can't endure.
Thanks everyone for the input...
it is true that the ear gets used to heavier tunes...

The heaviest I go is Opeth. It's pretty heavy, but I'm not huge on death metal but there's something about that band that draws me in.

I've always been into similar metal ~ Iron Maiden / Black Sabbath /Slayer and Metallica are still on my top ten ;)
& In the past, I've been known to shrug off some of the stuff but there are some bands recently who have peaked my interest so I guess my tastes must be changing. Or am I just evolving ???
Iced Earth / Children of Bodum / Cradle of Filth etc... Just dont ask me what genre because That is not my strong point

I could listen to a lot heavier music than I often do but I don't since I find the majority of it absolutely boring as it tends to sound the same. I checked out some of the extreme metal bands not too long ago but it absolutely peaked no interest within me. I much prefer the noise rock groups as they tend to have something in them with a little spin. I guess it goes with movies as well since I find most horror movies terrible but there's a few that I get excited about.
Anywho, here are some of my heavier ones I like. A lot of them take an acquired tasteas they're not pretty or heavily produced.
I will add I like the music from a lot of the newer post-hardcore bands but the screaming bugs the crap out of me. I'll take the old school stuff as well. I also enjoy thrash and Darth recently introduced me to Celtic Frost which I really dig.

I can basically listen to any type of metal. I can take any heaviness.
Pretty much any grindcore and death metal band is a walk in the park for me. Once you train your ears you can listen to anything.

I will listen to any form of music, especially the heavy forums of rock, (sometimes called metal,) – as long at the lyrics and overall attitude of the bad is not contrary to my moral beliefs.

i can pretty much do it all, but deathcore music can get a bit annoying especially if there's no consistent beat.
ex:
As I Lay Dying
Metallica
Killswitch Engage
Parkway Drive
All That Remains
Gravesend
Bullet For My Valanetine
Chromium
I Killed The Prom Queen
Trivium
From A Second Story Window

I can pretty much listen to any metal - it's not the heaviness which determines it for me, but the lyrics, the vocal quality and the way the instruments are played rather than the sub-genre.
