Do girls believe that photoshopping their pictures will make them more attractive in reality?
I know, sounds weird, but that's the vibe I'm picking up.

Notice I said..."in reality".

I, personally, have never photoshopped a picture of myself. I think it probably has something to do with the same thing that might compel a person to put a 10 year old picture of themselves that doesn't remotely resemble them now on a dating site. For whatever reason, there's something that they're insecure about or don't like about themselves. Photoshopping their pictures gives them the ability to fix whatever cosmetic flaw (real or imagined) that's there and present to the online world what they wish they could present to the real world. Do they believe that it changes anything in reality? Probably not.

Great idea if you can overcome those financial restrictions. Just make it clear in the advertising how much they will "save" on studio portraits by getting you to do this. That way they have an argument to persuade Dad. Teenagers have the number one disposable income in Western Society. Tapping into that is a very wise business move. Getting an image that is good enough to work with might be a challenge though. Also remember that they may expect less than you do, so don't be in too much of a hurry to be a perfectionist and reject something, it may make them happy, and that's what matters. (Sorry studio portraitists).

Of course it doesn't, but if I put my untouched ones on there no-one would answer my questions would they ? hehe
Here's the real me, puff out my cheeks a little bit from the steroids I've been on and you've got it: The last one was taken a bit over a year ago, the only touchup was to extend my hair and the bottom of my neck where a collar was in the way.

.. not marvelous, but not too bad for a Grandmother of 9.
Actually the photoshopping in my avatar isn't to create an illusion, it's because I have fun doing it, and I can create change instead of having it static all the
time.
Would you ask a guy that question ?
Source(s): Of course that's really you in that avatar isn't it ??? Post your pic so we can compare. - How do you think about the answers? You can sign in to vote the answer.

Women have ALWAYS been pushed to be taller, to be skinnier, to be prettier. If a girl has her photo photoshopped with all of the imperfections smudged and cloned out of her, it may boost her self-esteem yes. So do they believe it to be reality? No, I think that it probably gives them something to think about and perhaps seeking the nearest plastic surgeon. It is sad that people can't just take what God gave them and work with that instead of having someone photoshop their face in real life.

Well, they're just following the example they see in the heavily retouched pix they see in the fashion mags, particularly on the cover-pages.
It'd be something if they just stuck to cosmetic retouching of their photos, instead of deciding to get their parents to pay for surgery! What a time we live in. Just think. You can actually live in an Orlando condo INSIDE DisneyWorld if you want. Artificial White Christmas guaranteed in the sales contract..

when i use photoshop on my pictures, its usually just to get rid of acne.
so i guess its just for the sake of the photograph and what we wished we looked like.
