Is there a better portrayal of the American Mafia than Goodfellas?
As a lifelong fan of La Cosa Nostra in America, I've searched for authentic portrayals of Yankee goombahs in film.
Goodfellas comes the closest to capturing LCN culture, in my opinion.
A Bronx Tale is also very astute, and Donnie Brasco is pretty accurate too.
Has anyone found a movie better at portraying The Mob than the above films?
(For those about to type The Godfather -- they are brilliant movies but they give the gangsters class and nobility to which they are not entitled.)

4 AnswersMovies1 decade agoDo you think this is good advice?
"The selection of the proper filter is actually far more important than any choice of lens or camera....the filter has a large and real effect on your image. Lens brand or sharpness does not."
"The more you learn about photography the more you'll also learn that artificial filters and manipulation are required to make a natural looking image."

11 AnswersPhotography1 decade agoCan anyone show me a Selective Colour image that actually has some point to it?
In Schindler's List (where this all started), The Girl In The Red Coat is there for a purpose.
Can someone show me another image where Selective Colour has a meaning other than "I know how to do it"?

5 AnswersPhotography1 decade agoWhat do you think of this lawsuit against Google?
A Pittsburgh, PA couple is suing Google for photographing their house without permission.
The photograph was used in Google Street View.
They claim invasion of privacy, mental distress and a few other things.
Here's the court document:

15 AnswersPhotography1 decade agoWhen will "DSLR Wars" end?
DSLR manufacturers are firing out new models every six months in a battle to the death for market share.
It's gotta end sometime.
When?
And what cameras will we end up with when the war is over?

18 AnswersPhotography1 decade agoIs Anton Chigurh the best villain ever in a movie?
He's the psycho killer in No Country For Old Men, played by Javier Bardem.
I thought the movie sucked, but this guy was a total nightmare and deserves Best Bad Guy Ever.
Agree? No?

20 AnswersPhotography1 decade agoWhat do you think of Photoshop Express, Adobe's new online photo editor?

Looks to me like Picasa with a better selective colour tool and a basic zit-remover (and a much less friendly interface).
What's your take on it?

Brokeback Mountain, No Country For Old Men.
And many more.

8 AnswersPhotography1 decade agoCould a digital camera produce an image like this?

(Photo by National Geographic's Steve McCurry.)
I mean a small-format camera (DSLR and smaller).
If so, which one?

7 AnswersPhotography1 decade agoIs this the ultimate camera?
You point your camera at a scene.
You press a button, and the camera, based on a database of 100,000 of the world's most famous photos, selects the most compelling subject matter.
Then, based on the Rule of Thirds, it composes your picture and records it.

12 AnswersYahoo Answers1 decade agoDo the photos of Auschwitz and Buchenwald mean anything today?
When I was a young boy I saw the photos taken by American soldiers at the Nazi concentration camps when they were liberated.
I remember being appalled and enraged that this should have happened...really pissed off that people who called themselves human did this stuff.
I really have never gotten past this and I wonder if any thinking person could.
So: what do the photos of the piles of corpses and the starved and abused survivors mean to anyone today?
Anything?

12 AnswersPhotography1 decade agoIs there a business opportunity Photoshopping teen girls' pictures?
A survey of Yahoo! Answers shows a high demand among teenage girls for "flawless" pictures of themselves.
Skin made zit-free, hair straightened, eye colour accented, ex-boyfriend deleted, etc.
Many seem desperate. I know they have no money but they may have dad's VISA card.
Is there profit potential here?

10 AnswersPhotography1 decade agoGive me three good reasons why I should have a Facebook account?
Today's newspaper tells me that 2/3 of all the Internet users in my country have a Facebook page.
Until now, I've gotten along perfectly well without one.
But now it looks like I'm in a minority.
So can someone give me three GOOD reasons why I should sign up?
