What is the most moving cinematic experience you have had?

I mean, truly meaningful - not like getting lucky in the theater.

That is an excellent question! It's a question for movies lovers that goes right to the core! There are 2 movies that I found moved me more than any others have(they are 'even' on my rating scale so I had to name them both):"The Time Machine"(1960)from H.G.Wells and"Mysterious Island"(1961)from Jules Verne. These fascinating science-fiction movies were films that basically made me a confirmed movie fan ever since. These 2 movies were not just entertaining, but at my then tender age of about 6,transported me into another time and place.I never even use to think of them as movies. In fact,I loved them so much that I couldn't wait until they were broadcast again(the old-school analog format)the next season or year.Just to prove even further my passion for these great movies,I now have them both copied on a VHS tape more than 4 decades. You science-fiction movie fans have got to see these masterpiece classics!

The very first time I saw Star Wars. Thinking this was going to be a "reefer" sci-fi flick like "Barbaraella" ( Jane Fonda ) like flim, I was walking down the aisle to my seat--and stopped cold standing there as the opening monologue floated out into space.....bringing a beautiful view of the Tattooine horizon......and those two ships BLASTING back at each other ( that Imperial Starship Destroyer was LONG!!). I was floor stunned!!

A close second was the moment we finally see the UFO in Spielberg's Close Encounters Of The Third Kind: I looked around and saw the audience---everyone had that blank stare and open gaped mouth. That was an epic moment.

Seeing No Country For Old Men. It's the best cinema experience of my life. Usually the audience when I go the cinema is teens who won't shut up and throw popcorn, but everyone was on the edge of their seat watching this.

Star Wars, what else? That was the last really good effort showing the peak of imagination and hard work.

    CINEMA PARADISO.

Star Wars was exhilarating when I was a kid, but this movie moved me as an adult, and that takes some doing.
