Do you think now we have been paying too much in Taxes all along?

By getting this summer's rebate check, it just shows that our Federal Government is getting too much taxes from us. I rather have a permanent tax cut than get an one-time rebate check. Is this rebate check an advance of my next year's refund? Also, just imagine the cost of processing all of these rebate checks and sending out the notices to everyone. This is a complete waste of money. It is going to take a lot more to stimulate our economy than just receiving a rebate check.

From what I hear this is not an advance on next year's refund nor will it have to be shown as income. It is costing $62,000,000 to send out notices & checks. That part is ridiculous. Why the notices? Just send the checks.

We actually have some of the lowest taxes. Low income people get thousands of dollars in refunds for EIC and extra child tax credits. Those of us who work and buy homes end up paying taxes. The tax rebate is an advance on 2008 and is claimable on 2008 taxes. They will reduce the general tax liability in the 10% range to accommodate that so it shouldnt have much affect on your taxes. I believe the US is borrowing the money for the rebate.

The USA has the lowest overall tax burden of any western industrialized country so we must really be on the low side.

now you're catching on. The only real fix for this country is for the people to take back washington. that won't happen by voting for someone.
