the Iraqi's Bath Party was model directly after the Nazi party. Both used intimidation and death squads to remove any opposition to the Hussein government. Less US Military have been killed in Iraq. Time to pacify has been about equal. A democracy will replace a dictatorship

compare all you want But you should compare and contrast if you are being fair to yourself I think Bush's point was that people were saying that the Japanese will never change and will never embrace democracy. Those people were wrong, but It is a stretch to compare post war Japan to Iraq. After all, Japan was a homogenious population that had surrendered unconditionally. It had been nuked and was occupied by millions of soldiers. As they say, when you got them by the balls, their hearts and minds will follow. Iraq, we all now know, is not homogenious, but a state of factious cults. They also never really surrendered. So Iraq is far from being post war Japan. Another interesting contrast with WWII is the draft. There is none today. You can fight for the cause if you want to. Or not. In either case you can feel guilty about some aspect of the war. Or not. Note to all those people that are saying that Saddam posed no threat to anyone and did not have or use WMDs. He did use poison gas against the Kurds and killed them by the thousands. He did have death camps. He did invade his neighbors, Kuwait and Iran. He was no Hitler, but maybe a Stalin wantabe.

Germany invaded most of Europe.
Japan invaded China, Korea, Kitska Island (US), Attu (US) and most of SE Asia
Iraq invaded Kuwait.
WWII is the 2nd time it is invaded by foreign troops. (Battle of the Aleutians)
No other nation at this time capable of landing troops CONUS.
British fought alone against Germany.
Japan went unopposed until attacking Pearl.
WWII ended with complete surrender.
Iraq paid Palestinian suicide bombers families $25,000.00
Germany and Japan had no trouble committing their own war crimes.
Germany and Japan occupied by US and other forces. Western sectors are rebuilt
Iraq was forced from Kuwait by UN sanctioned action lead by the US.
Action ended by a cease fire agreement.
Cease fire agreement ignored in part by Iraq. UN issues Security Council Resolutions to comply or face "Serious Consequence". That's UN speak for military action.
US acts under UN authority to enforce resolutions and hostilities resume.

Other than the fact that people are shooting and bombing each other, there are really no similarities. WWII involved nearly every nation on earth. Iraq is a minor conflict in comparison.

After Pearl Harbor, we declared war on the country that attacked us. After 9/11, Bush used that tragedy to drum up support for the war in Iraq, even though the terrorists trained in Afghanistan. If Bush had been in charge after Pearl Harbor, he would have declared war on Thailand.

Don't think you can compare, WW2 was a declared war that needed fighting - Iraq is an undeclared war that never should have been fought, no WMD, no terrorust's in Iraq at time war declared, huge mistake that's costing the US blood and money.

There is absolutely no comparison at all.
Trying to make a comparison is an insult to the men who saved this nation in 1940.Excuse me, the men who saved the world.

WW2 was a world war and the Iraq war is a war against an insurgency/terrorists who don't fight for any nation and don't wear military uniforms like they wore in WW2.

Procrastinating until the night before homework is due, huh?
Ah, those were the days...
Although back in my day, Yahoo!Answers wasn't around so other people couldn't do my homework for me.
I actually had to read and learn things myself, then write analytically based on my own knowledge.
Good luck.
