question about what one to get for a laptop?

i have 2 laptops i am thinking about. here are the details for each. on the first one i can downsize to windows xp if i want to. for the second one i cant. the video cards are set so i cant change them. the intel is for a gforce and the amd is for a ati. i want to play games. mostly shooter games and sports games. i have a laptop now but it chops up when playing like black hawk down. when you are shooting the 50 cal from hummer. and when playing sports games like madden 03 it starts to go in slow motion. it has a gig of ram, windows xp, 2.2 ghz, amd athlon 64. ati radeon 9700 128 video card. 60 gig hard drive at 7200 rpm. the 2 i am looking at cause i 2000 dollars so far are from ibuypower and are as follows.

Update 7:

again this if for a laptop. to take to Iraq and play games. also if you know a website that has a better deal to look at as well let me know too. macs i am not sure about and dont know much. i would like to have dvds as well to play and have a mp3 player. i just heard macs are that good with games. but i dont know them that well. i also have an extra windows xp so that is why i was thinking of getting vista. also for the free games.

Update 8:

yeah i was trying for a faster speed cause now games are starting to need 2 ghz to run. and for laptops sometimes they under clock. but i will look up the site. i also heard macs wont play with some games anyways. like halo 2 and some others. you have to get them if they are compatible. thanks so far i will check that site out. i think i rather have the gforce video card over ati. right now i have an ati and not happy with it. i have had a gforce before and liked. and keep getting told to get gforce over ati. also i think i rather have intel right now then amd. runs hotter but that is what the cooling fan will help with.

Update 9:

and i want it brand new. i also like sites that will let you upgrade or add stuff. like ibuypower. at least you can either upgrade the speed of downgrade or add more hard drive or less.

Update 10:

Video Card ( Mobility 512MB ATI Radeon HD2600 PCI-Express 3D Video )

is vid for second one. sorry thought i had it on. this does not let me paste the whole section. my experiance though intel seems to be bigger built and runs hotter. however they useally put a bigger fan in them which inturn keeps it more cooler then amd.

Update 11:

but would you go with the vista or with xp. or with my thinking go ahead with vista just to get it. and if i dont like i can install my xp i have at home. i was getting vista cause you get the free game with it for intel that was halo 2.

Update 12:

and i know the graphics card also has a lot to do with how well games play. i know that 512 is good. it takes that away from my memory however it dedicates it to games. and i cant change the card anyways. that is the only thing that it wont let me change. except if i change rather to go with intel or amd. then i can get a ati. so far what i hear the gforce is better. and i can only get a ati up to 2.3. for 250 more i can upgrade to a 2.6 for the intel. however 2.4 i thought was more then enough on speed.

Update 13:

the toshiba one. the graphics card is the same as what i am looking at on mine. it has 320 gig for hard drive. however it is 2.1 ghz and is over 2000 dollars and is 3 gigs for ram.

    I would suggest the first.

Both specification we're looking at here is Desktop specification?

From my personal experience, AMD gets heat up easily comparing to Intel which made it not very suitable for gaming purposes.

(You wouldn't want to play Halo on a Hotplate and BBQ pit)

If you're looking for purely gaming purposes, CPU, Memory and HardDisk are the more important ones that you'll need to keep a look out for.

Regarding the 2nd Laptop specification you state, I don't see any information regarding graphic card. As for the 1st Laptop 512MB NVIDIA GeForce GO 8600GT isn't too bad for gaming =)

Lastly, regarding the 1st Answer, Mac isn't made for gaming purposes.

    Hope it helps.

for 2000 you should check out the toshiba X205 at newegg.com $1300 it has the best mobile video card out right now but the cpu is only 1.83Ghz dual core.but is still powerfull i would highly recomend it. hope this help and p.s macs are pieces of overpriced crap i would HIGHLY recomend not getting one. and plus games for them cost more than twice as much just for the compability reasons. stick with pc
