Does anyone seriously believe "God" looks like a human?

I keep hearing how we are made in her image....

So like... Do you picture "god" as a spirit that looks like a human?

You said her, why would you say her? I believe what the Bible says about God, Jesus is seated at the right hand of the Father in heaven (in live physical bodies)and the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God who lives in the believer and dwells on the earth and convicts the world of the sin of unbelief.

That's actually an interesting question. I haven't heart that one before. I think the fact that the brain is capable of adapting like that shows the complexity of God's creation. Think about it, if you made a computer but never gave it an operating system, would it work all? Would it be able to adapt to the circumstances and continue functioning? The human body is essentially a machine, a very very well designed machine. That being said, when mankind fell from grace in the garden of Eden, the perfect design of the machine became flawed. Things stopped working how they were supposed to. It's still a masterpiece, considering everything that has to go right in the human body on any given day for it to work properly. But the fact remains that just as the flaw of sin entered into our consciousness, flaws appeared in the human body. This is why despite God's intentions for Mankind, things like you mentioned can and do happen. If God already built into use to accept Him, then we wouldn't have free will. So He didn't build it into us.

  • I dont. There is a very common saying that is so factual and that is the concept of if horses wrote the bible God would be a horse and if a cat god would be a cat and so on.

Us humans anthropomorphize everything. When you take this simple way of thinking and add it into a book like the bible that practises human conceit and superiority over nature and animals, of course this will be the outcome.

I think we are all the same and every living thing is interconnected. We are all energy, its the current house this energy is stored (ie a human body) that restricts us to what we can and cannot do.

It's impossible to know what God looks like or even if He has any measurable mass at all. That said, I think some of us view Him as human because it is the best concept our human brains can wrap around.

    EDIT:

I call God "He" because Christ referred to Him as "Father".

Does anyone seriously think god looks like anything? Imaginary beings can not " look " like anything, let alone a human.

I think it's a bit silly to think of a "God" with skin, arms legs etc. What would God do with a body?

what i REALLY don't get is that all these white supremists have this idea that jesus was this long haired blond guy....

where did THAT come from? And even if some guy that they picture showed up on their doorstep, they would call him a "hippie freak" for wearing a robe and sandals...and a "homo" for kissing guys.

Actually, I really feel that way. Which might indicate the limits of my feeble mind. -- Then again?

PS: Her image? Well Actually Jesus told the Essenes that we had a spiritual Father, and a spiritual Mother. -- Of course, the Gospel of the Essenes was rejected by the All men jury on the subject of which scrolls would be allowed in "The Bible".

It's a sign of our limited human imaginations, that's for sure.

As as wise person said once ... if horses had gods, they'd all look like horses.

No because if "God" was a man then all women would be left out. If "God" was woman then all men would be left out......If you believe in such a thing, "God" is nothing like we could ever imagine!

Yes, we believe that God appears Human, Jesus was the express image of his Father, therefore, God appears Human, we are made physically after the image of God's body, nothing claims it was our spiritual image. besides, our spirits appear exactly as our physicality.
